Just came back from the dealership in Richmond, BC today with a 24-hour test drive on the Mazda 3 GT. I love this car and I am looking into financing it for sure to replace my 1995 Mazda MX-6.

The price comes down to about $26K with taxes and freight, I was hoping to get some advice from the wonderful members in this forum on how I can get myself a good price and what are some key features I should look for in getting a brand new Mazda 3. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks for everyone's help in advance!

First, i think that's a pretty good price; i bought my 2006 sport GT in Alberta and didn't have to pay the PST, and my price came out to about 26 on the road. See if you can get them to throw in the all-weather mats, and possibly discount the rock-chip protection film (clearbra) if you're getting that. I don't think you can haggle too much though at that price. You've got nothing to lose by trying :)

As far as features go...i think pretty much all the standard features of the 3 are the ones i would look for. Are you getting the 2008.5 model?

Maybe they can throw in tints for free :)

Impossible to tell.

Auto or 5 Speed Manual?

With or Without Moonroof?

What are the surcharges in BC?

How much is the Price of the car?

What are the taxes in BC?

Best off to price it out on Mazda.ca and see how much they are discounting.

Thanks for pointing this out, here are the details:

5 speed automatic with manual control
No moonroof
I am not sure what the surcharges are in BC, but I'll find out :)
Price is about $26K with taxes included
Taxes in BC are 7% (PST) and the usual 5% (GST)

Thanks for all the input everyone, I think I'll try to get the tint and clear bra (didn't know this existed) and the all-weather mats if I can. :D

Based on Mazda.ca your car works out to $28,974.40

$26,000 taxes included sounds like a great deal.

Actually a little too good to be true. Especially knowing that most dealers in BC don't discount at all.

You are right, I make a mistake: I just realized the $26K was before taxes. In your experience, what is the best prices that dealerships have offered in the past?

Thanks again for your time!

Okay, so if retail is $28,974 after taxes...

Then take $28,974 minus 13% is $25,640

Really you need to do more homework.

Actually tax is 12% (7% PST + 5% GST), so....

$28,974 minus 12% is $25,870...

But thanks for the math lesson anyways...

I was using Ontario taxes, so your deal is still over MSRP.

Best to try a different dealership.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious...I was actually interested in finding out how much the warehouse price was. I find your responses rather unhelpful and arrogant but that's just me.

I am heading back to the dealership this weekend and maybe settle for a price, school has kept me busy all week long.

I'll be looking into the 2008.5 models, but I guess the dealership will be less flexible on these car since they just arrived at the lots but hopefully they can offer me something good.

Thanks again, Biz.
