it so hard to see the brake fluid level. I can see the max line but i can't see towards the back, to see what the level is at. Would it hurt just to add some?

Why would you add some if you can't see the level? and Did you try cleaning the reservoir so you can see better? I'd suggest doing that before opening it up.

You don't need to add brake fluid unless you have a leak somewhere.

As your pads and rotors wear, the fluid level goes down. When you replace them, the fluid level will come back up. Unless it's down to the minimum marker, do not add any. If you feel you need to add some, then have your brakes inspected as you likely need new pads or something.

Brake fluid is not consumed, so it should never need to be topped up.

Also, the brake fluid is also the clutch fluid on the 3's with manual transmissions. I don't know if that's relevent. But my system is down at work. Heh...
