How to reprogram the door lock flashing lights

Due to an accident, my 2004 MZ3 GT sedan front bumper and fenders were replaced/repaired. I got back the car from the bodyshop yesterday and found that the harzard lights did not flash when I used the remote to lock/unlock the doors. But when pressing lock button twice, the horn sounded. When the panic button was pressed, the horn sounded and the harzard lights flashed.

Does anybody know how to reprogram the remote/harzard lights?

I am going to try to tackle this for you, but I will need someone to CONFIRM for me, because I am taking a HUGE stab in the dark. I just hope this doesn't do something completely different on the 3!

I am not sure whether civics and mazda3s are the same when it comes to this, but assuming they are alike, I know that if you take the key in and out of the ignition 3 times in a row very quickly, it should either enable the lights or disable them, depending on what the setting was previously i.e. if there was no flash, there should be one the next time you try.

are you sure all your doors and the trunk are closed? Maybe you should go around and open and close all the doors yourself and then try the remote again.

Sounds like something got messed up during the bodyshop visit. I would take it back to the people who fixed your car. No sense in trying to guess what the problem is until you get them to figure out what they did.

They could have easily screwed up a connection or damaged some wiring.

Thank you mit-gee-mui for your advice but the trick for Civics doesn't apply to Mz3.

I checked the manual but nothing regarding the reprogram of the lock.

As I said before, the horn sounded when I pressed lock button twice. Therefore, all doors were properly locked.

I did go back to the bodyshop. However, that guy said if he had the manual, he could reprogram it. But I did not bring the manual to him. So I thought if I could do it, I did not need to go back again.

This was my second time to this shop. The first time, no similar problem was made. So I think this time, they screwed up.

could it be that the hood pin switch is no longer aligning/functioning as a result of the accident or improper body repair? i'm pretty sure that with the OEM alarm, if a door is open (or hood or hatch), the lights will not flash when arming, to indicate that the car is in fact not armed.

it does not sound like a "programming" issue.
