i was stuck so bad after yesterdays snowstorm im wondering did i mess up my engine? i have a injen cai on too and made some weird noises when i redlined? HELP
...how on earth did you redline?
You realize the giving it doesn't help, and if you were to 'give it' you'd want to keep the revs down.
Your engine should be fine, you've just shortened its life.

Wow, 10 times? You must've been really stuck.
Usually when you're stuck in snow, I find that it helps you when you DON'T rev the engine, but rather you want to try and rock the car back and forth by tapping the gas every now and then.
I got stuck yesterday too and the method works for me.

Question for you, are you riding on the RSA's or winters?

yeah nailing the gas isn't going to get you anywhere, no clue why you thought that was a good idea

Yeah in a situation like that u have to start off at a slow rev and then move up slowly..... & Get winter tires & u prbly will never have this problem.... and if u really worried about the engine go to your nearest dealership and chk it out i doubt they will be any major engine problems from that though

i wouldn't worry about it unless you were bouncing off the rev limiter like crazy

Why do you even result to spinning the wheels when you are stuck? You're just getting yourself deeper. Try rocking the car back and forth; reverse - drive, reverse - drive. Much more effective, and safer on your engine.

I had the same problem. But i kept mine at around 5000-6000rpm. I was pissed off. Stupid snow. Took me 10 mins to get out. I had to turn the wheel and and right but it worked. Dont just keep ur wheel straight.

Also: toss a tupperware container of road salt in your trunk. A handfull under the each of the front wheels works wonders. Throw in a small plastic show shovel while you are at it...

Ah, I couldn't watch the "how to" by the girl..
Yea not easy to watch. Its like she's explaining it to a 5th grader, but her points are correct.

And Kitty Litter does NOT! (It's basically clay, and turns into, well, mud.)

Effin Snow man. I was in Richmond Hill North of Gamble and damm man no snow plows in sight. Got stuck on sat night on bathhurst north of gamble and so was everyone else. Thankfully cousins dont live too far away and they came to my rescue. Had to park my car at somes house(after asking them ofcourse lol). My street has 3 feet of snow in the middle of the street right now as well. Ive decided to make enough money to buy a million dollar condo so i never have to deal with this shit again. What a waste of a weekend.

+1
And personally, I keep a small emergency shovel in my trunk during the winter. It also has a detachable thing to put under the tire for grip.

her voice is VERY annoying and shes *shivers*
Episode of Mythbusters proved that you get more traction going in reverse in a FWD car. Rock the car back and forth, and try turning the steering wheel. Kitty Litter actually works better than salt.

I've always found it turns to slimy mush, while salt "bites" into ice....

How to not get stuck in snow: GET SNOW TIRES!
I did not get stuck one time this winter no matter how much snow I was plowing with my low car. It even powered through a full foot of snow in Quebec over the holidays, no spinning, no problems. All season tires are garbage.
Ok thats enough...
...summary
....if you're worried about the engine take it to the dealer but you should be just fine.
Next time, take it easy on the pedal.
LOCKED.
