This has to be one of the most unfortunate situations I've ever ran into. My dad picked up his Mazda3 last thursday, brand new, 08 from MOT. The next day (friday) I borrowed his car, which was when it started snowing. Anyway, I'm going south on Warden, I hit red lights one intersection south of 14th. So I'm waiting in the right lane, and out of nowhere I realize I'm flying. Camry came flying into me from behind, she tried to swerve out of my way but nailed the right rear corner of the car. She ended up flying into the snow bank. I'm happy I was holding the brakes, I admit sometimes I don't when I'm stopped on level ground, but this was a good warning of why it's important.
Long story short, exchanged info, reported it, and the dealer forwarded us to Supreme Collision Center. The preliminary estimate is $5175, many parts need to be replaced, bumper, tail light, quarter panel, and some other stuff. It's funny how the part of the 1/4 panel above the rear door got bent somehow.
Just seeing the Odo read 120-something at the time of the accident made me... Eh, words can't describe the feeling. Whatever, stuff like this happens. Just very unfortunate I guess.

Warden and 14th is a crazy big intersection now . I always see tons of accidents around there , esp. since its a commericial area and lots of people always rushing to get to work/leave work.
That's terrible, you were still on your first tank of gas ! But it could have been A LOT worse, glad to hear your ok. I doubt I would be able to keep my cool in a situation like that , kudos to you.

I agree... I would have thought that a brand new car with that much damage would = new vehicle...

You guys are misreading the post.
He said his ODO = 120.. as in 120KM, it was new.
The damages were estimated as 5175 according to his post.

yeah Warden and 14th is a big crazy intersection, esp if you're going southbound and coming down from that bridge, everyone picks up speed to beat the lights.. and at the bottom of the bridge, a bump! Everytime I go over that bump I swear I always pray I didn't just bent my rims! dammit they're done with the construction there, could they at least even out that part??? anyways, everybody just be careful driving coz this winter driving condition's far from over. sad to hear the new car was smashed but glad to hear my fellow member was ok. have ur insurance write it off! it's a new car for god's sake:)

I'm glad you're alright.
I also hope there's no frame damage to your car!

The car is brand new. Its only 5000 something in damages. $5000 on a new car isn't that much money. Theres no way they would write off the car.

It's not up to him. No way in hell the insurance company will write off a car if it is cheaper to repair it.

Holy crap man. That sucks.
Anyway, we talked to the insurance people. There's no way they're gonna write it off. The repair is going to take a couple weeks at least, which sucks. MOT suggested that we take it to Supreme for repairs.
Well here's the deal, the quarter panel is completely ruined, and somehow it got bent right above the rear door as a result of the impact. It's clearly visible to the naked eye. They're gonna replace that whole piece. The bumper is well done. But the area of the quarter panel that goes behind the bumper (where you can't see), is completely messed up, basically like a can of coke after being stepped on, something like that.
All I'm concerned about is that there's more damage than what's visible that might go unnoticed?

There's almost certainly more damage than is visible, but they'll look for that and fix it. That's what they do.
It should be good as new when they're done with it.
