Hey, I came across these discounts that are available from State Farm for students. Is this the only company who does this, because i never heard of it before. Im with StateFarm as a second driver on a minivan, and I think these discounts would be great when i get my mazda3. I got a quote without these discounts, and they said $350ish............ :bang.....hopefully that comes down.
Just thought I might pass it down. Hope it helps anyone.

Yeah I've got the good student one, I graduated post-secondary and they are going to keep my discount until I turn 25 since my average overall was higher then a "B".
But I'm going to call my agent about that Steer Clear one, thanks for that.

Steer Clear is really easy to do, theres a 15 minute video of people who were in bad accidents, and its 10 journal entries and two surveys. I finished it in a week. Knocked me down $30 a month, down to $180 a month now.

$350 that's alot. I pay $320 (Car+motorcycle+life), but there is another thread discussing that sort of stuff.
I'm awaiting a call back, for my eligibility on the Steer Clear program. I met the credentials but have to talk to a specific person, not the sub-agent that was on the phone today.
Jay, good student is pretty big discount IIRC. I believe it knocked off around $600 for me.

State Farm had the good student discount for years and years now.
They're still one of the most expensive.

damnit! 2.8gpa :(:(
also, State Farm is not happy if you mod your car.. I had a friend get completely screwed when his car got hit by someone else (not his fault at all). State Farm found out he had modifications, minor things too.. like intake, springs, etc.
They denied his claim.. he got nothing.

I'm lucky, I've got multicar, good student, and steer clear. With only multicar they wanted about $350 a month, with the other discounts they dropped me to 180 like I said. Next cheapest I could find was around $300 or a bit more...and their good student kicks in at 70%, most others had the cutoff at 80%.

Statefarm is pretty bad, but I am with them, because I have multicar, good student, blah blah blah.
All 3 of my cars have been modded, 2 have had claims they never said anything about the mods.
However, if the write of your vehicle you get $0 towards any modifications done. I got hosed with my stereo. If they were going to fix the truck I could have got up to 1500, but they didn't so I got 700 bucks for everything.

But the thing I found good about Statefarm is that, when we make claims, like no-fault claims, they never inspect our car. They just ask for what happened, and then they wait for a statement from our garage or where ever we take it. Then they pay it.
While i was at the toyota body shop, I saw people had to take pictures and what not to let their insurance company inspect their vehicles.
Other than that statefarm is whatever.
When i was asking about doing mods to my future car, my agent gave me a hard look, and just said, we dont like mods. Your claims can get denied.:(

i have been looking to leave State Farm for years - believe me YEARS...any excuse to leave them
and they are hands down the cheapest that I have ever come across by far...i get quotes all the time and they can't touch State Farm
i don't know if it is a Halton thing, or multicar discount, or because i have my house with them as well - but they are VERY reasonable

Intresting, you are right thou. I've only been with Statefarm, and only one accident, but it was pretty painless. They asked for a quote from one of their garages (which was my choice too) and that was it. Never had a rep look at the car. No-fault btw.

Well i'm over 19, so I only have to do 10 driving logs, sign the pledge and give it back. The dvd and 30 logs are only if your under 19.
