I will disagree with the above statement. I've been running pro kits for almost two years now. I've had three alignments done, and my tires have bad camber wear. I have been running the stock 17" Rims with performance tires, in the stock size.
This summer, I am replacing my rims and tires, and adding a camber kit. People may say you don't need a camber kit, and you may not right away, but eventually you will want a camber kit.

There's always been those lucky and unlucky with respect to camber wear.
If you do an alignment after lowering and you are in spec, nothing to worry about.
Make sure you get a print out, so you can share =p

I'm running Pro-Kit for about a year now with 17's & will be moving up to 18's this summer. So far with the 17's NO Camber wear & I haven't even went for alignment yet,. lucky I guess.

+1 Same here, no problems or camber wear.Just make sure you give it a couple of weeks after the install before getting an alignment, this will allow the springs and car to settle in height.

this seems to be a very strange one.
Some need a camber kit and some don't.
I was under the impression that anything on the milder side 1 to 1.5" you should be able to get away with out a camber kit. Any serious drop you would need one.
Also you hear some saying to get your car aligned right after you install the springs and some say wait till they settle (which makes more sense), depending on the settleing factor I guess.
so I guess its one that once you lower your car give it a week or two and take you car in and get it aligned and check your camber.

Problem is as much as they try; no two vehicles are the same and no two sets of springs will settle the same height, hense some might need kits, others not.Mine for instance after a 2 week wait had the alignment done and it needed a slight adjustment but was within spec...mind you my LR wheel-the camber was at its max spec. But so far no excess wear!...On another note when getting an alignment make sure there are no heavy items in the vehicle and your gas tank is at full for a proper alignment. Some things can throw it off like having a system-the weight of amps, subs, boxes etc; must be compensated for.

Gilmen charges $80
I think dealer goes for $120?
I'm wondering if the offset of the rim helps. Not many after market rims are 52mm offset, so I'm wondering if the lower offset in aftermarket rims is causing more camber wear :s

I am getting mine put on with a few other mods april 4th... and getting an alignment as soon as they get put on, and i will probly go in again 4-6 weeks after that to be sure.
Have some nice tires that I don't want uneven wear on plus I can get it done pretty cheap at a shop a few friends are mechanics at..

U don't want to get the alignment done as soon as you put the springs in cause you need to let the settle for at least a week. If you do it right away youll prob have to get it done again and thats just a waste of $$$. My suggestion would be to get the alignment done a week after.

I know I will have to do it again. I am getting the Eibach Anti-Roll Sways installed at the same time and when you put the sways on, can toss the alignment off also.. plus its gonna cost me like 50 bucks so its worth it to me..

Actually you have to get an alignment when you install the front Swaybar but no the rearsway bar
the reason being is that Front swaybar installation requires you to drop the front subframe
as for camber kits, IMO...never ran them and only had an alignment..
that goes for my previous Acura I had which was droped about 2.5 front and rear (tucking rim under fender)....alignment was done, I had a slight inner camber wear, but nothing that made me panic...
remember too with these cars, from stock...the already come with a high degree of camber stock...
I am on my Tanabe Springs for about 2.5 years and about 38,000KM, no signs of camber wear on the stock RSA when I had them and the new tires have not shown anything..
again only alignment done...
another factor is tires, what type are they? reason you see camber wear is that the sidewall on the rubber is to soft....and thus camber wear will show a lot more then a tire with a stiff sidewall..
maybe something in the suspension needs to be checked over...control arms, tie rods, etc....
what I was told too, after alignment, increase tire presure by about 5 psi fromt stock
should help a little....
camber kits defeat the purpose of lowering, with a postive or zero camber w/ lowering kit, your car will corner identically to that of when it was stock...and also can create more issues when choose a wheel and tire combo due to the fact the rim now is at zero camber so, you increase the chance of it hitting the fender
camber in some senses helps increase handling...look at racecars, ever see there tires striaght?

I have H-techs which are similar to the pro-kits. I got an alignment done probably 3-4 months after the install. From what I remember the rear ones were almost identical to stock and the front ones weren't that bad either.
For me it was almost a waste of $80 for the alignment.

Its not a waste to know your specs are bang on and you're not going to prematurely wear out your tires!! ....Come to think of it with all these damn fracking pot-holes, it might be a good idea to get it checked again.

Would that be because your tires have bad tread rating? Just guessing. Tread pattern affects a lot and is it becasue you have a sub in the back as well?
I had prokits on my car before for about 4 months and never had a problem with camber wear. I even had sportlines with 2inch drop tucked with 45 profile tires and only showed a little bit of camber wear on the fk452. Note that i didn't do alignment on the sportline either.

It's possible my tires had a poor tread rating, thought I was running a quality Yokohama tire, that had good tread wear reviews. The sub, certainly could make a difference as well, though, I am running a pretty small sub/box combo. The camber issue also exists both on my summer and winter tires.
