Hey guys,

Just curious if anyone here can offer suggestions on how i can remove the automatic/manual climate control trimming? (aka the peice surrounding the three circle dials)

I want to pull it out and paint it black to match the JDM double din kit that I currently have (not yet installed)

anyone have instructions or tips on how to do this WITHOUT ripping out the head unit?

please let me know =)

thanks guys

edit... and if it is necessary to take off the oem head unit too p lease.. let me know if you have a link or directions on how to do that....

i'm assuming the head unit doesnot need to be removed... only the trimming?
hopefully this can be done with little invasive maneuvre

we'll call this plan B but maybe you could just use masking tape and tape up the entire area and use black paint and a fine paint brush and paint it?? having not see the actual controls up close I'm not sure if this is possible without getting paint in behind the controls but just throwing it out there..

unfortunately most likely not. thanks though

that would be optimal but i don't think it'll provide for the most smooth paint joband will most likely not be the same texture as the trim above it

I'm not too sure as to how it is installed, but just looking at it you should
be able to remove the heater controls. It should be just screwed/ cliped on to the back side of the main bezel trim. There should be a how to somewhere on taking the center cluster trim apart. Once you have it apart, then the control switch should come off. This is how its installed on most cars. If you have a manual heater control then you might have a hard time getting off the ring around the dials, it may be heatstaked on the main bezel.

Why don't you just put vinyl film on it?

Why don't you just put vinyl film on it?

not sure how that'll loook... i'd prefer to just leave it gray
the double din trim is more of a matte/flat look

vinyl i think might be too shiny... ahhhh man thanks for the help
gonna trya nd figure it out.
