lately i've been getting the P2187 CEL code... has anyone else experienced this? the dealership and other mechanics have told me that the code is system too lean at idle, which is due to a faulty purge valve which i've had replaced a few times... another theory i've been told is that its because my CAI, but i never had this problem since i bought the car and had it installed which is over a year ago.... any help will be nice :) i've checked the american forums as well but no luck

I had that code, but the purge valve replacement fixed mine..... I've also heard that a CAI can do that too, maybe more so if you have a Turbo Back.

no issues with my cobb sri and cpe tbe .... maybe trying swapping to cobb sri with the air straightner
I think that's the same code that I got few months back.
(Vlad got it couple of times as well)
Jimmy cleared the code and advised me to switch to different gas station.
After that it didn't return.

Sunoco's Performance Points program's a +. gas prices today -.
i use esso's and shells, both are better than sunoco's 94 in power and mileage. i saw 119.5 for regular gas today, whenever i need to fill the gas, the price always higher than normal, WTF.
ps:but i like that sunoco's new car wash a lot.

What he means is, even with the same brand, go to the different station. Some station may have dirty tank with contaminants in the gas.

Hey all;
Just had a CEL on Friday. I was freaking out a bit since I have a CAI and some sort of CBE (came with the used car) and I figured it'd be a MAF and they'd give me a hard time. Problem ended up being the purge valve, and he said the CAI and exhaust were fine. "Everybody does that", he said. Much relieved.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but better to do that then start a new thread on the same topic.
I got this code a couple days ago, the CEL has been going on and off every few starts. I erased the code, hope it doesn't come back. The car starts and drives perfectly fine. Nothing seems to be wrong with it mechanically.

I have the MS CAI. Had it for 32,000kms and no problems, then about 1200kms ago I added the AEM air straightener.

after adding the air straightener you started to get the problems or were you having the problems before and you are still having the problems

No problems before and the car defenetly felt WAY better and smoother reving after. I really don't think that was the cause. Still runs perfectly fine and smooth.
