Based on the discussions in this thread:
http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=23681
We are conducting a poll to determine the final results. Please vote on which of the two models you would like to see. Regardless of which model is selected the moderators will be monitoring the threads more closely.
1. Community Protecting Each Other Model
In this system, members will be allowed to question pricing that sellers choose to list their items for. Challenging members must make their challenge civilly and must provide evidence (e.g. a link to a differently priced similar item). Sellers should monitor their own FS threads and respond to such challenges, again civilly, with reasoning explaining the discrepancies in pricing. It will be up to the potential buyers to decide whether or not to accept said reasoning. Malicious, unfounded and absurd challenges will still be considered thread crapping and be actionable under our general forum conduct rules.
2. Buyer Beware System
In this system, no member shall be allowed to comment on the price at which sellers list their items for sale. It will be the responsibility of buyers to do their own research before committing to a purchase.
This Poll closes Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 12:00 am.

Screw by or beware. Let's help eachother out. This isn't TCC (Toronto Civics) where they try taking fools for all of their money for something that isn't worth half as much. If people are charging too much, I want an explaination (even the fact if it's in really good condition is good enough)..

this is a hard one

very good idea and i like the whole lets protect the club members. However many sellers do not want to go through the whole people asking them about their prices , many want to do a quick sell and there are a lot of lowballers
I think we will get less items for sale

A better idea for the sellers which will bring more items for sale.
It is a hard one. Why not have both systems , like let the seller choose if he wants option 1 or 2. I'm sure whoever chooses option 1 would see their item gone faster and whoever chooses option 2 would take a little longer.

Personally, I think a buyer beware approach is the best system. If the customer is going to purchase an item, it is up to that customer to do the research and use their better judgment before purchasing. With a "Community Protecting each other" approach, the b/s/t threads will just turn into a battle ground for hecklers.
I have seen many car parts on this forum sell at "fire-sale" prices for whatever reasons, but that does not mean that is the market price for any given product. For example, a former member's lease was up and was selling a mazdaspeed accessory exhaust for $99... does that mean the exhaust is worth $99? Nope. But I can sure bet members will be linking this post as leverage when trying to bargain with someone who may be selling the same exhaust.
Keep everything to PM. It seems to be working fine right now, why change it ? If someone is selling something at an outrageous price it simply won't sell, no need to have 20 other members tell them that they are overcharging or "ripping" people off in their FS thread.
Rather than worrying about this issue, let's implement "itrader" ... similar to crsx and rfd.

I think that a mix of both is best. Buyer beware basis, but for example if you see a thread where someone is trying to sell a used part realistically worth $400 for something like $800, and you know it is extremely over priced then it is up to your discretion to say something in the for sale thread or not. If I see someone selling a used greddy bov for $400 I will probably say something.
A good example is a thread where the seller was selling used wheel locks for $45 but changed to $25 after being told of new ones that can be bought for less than $40 from the dealer. It was civil, and everyone was fine; that's how it should be. Community.
