View Full Version : So I got my tax return..what should i do?
I got my tax return, a little less than i wished for but i'm itching to spend a tiny bit of it.
So I have $250ish to waste but what should i do? So many options.

How is your foglight broken (i.e. visual or just not working)? If it's visual that's what I'd fix, cause even while enjoying one of the many other things you listed it would bug me that it wasn't 'right'.
I'd skip the HID's right now as the days are getting longer and you'll get less use out of them then you would in winter months.
If you don't spoil yourself too often with purchases then I'd say spend it and not save, it's a nice reward for being good the rest of the year.
invest......in some HIDs!
as for my goals/hopes, I just want my 3 to be more versatile as a daily driver, highway cruiser, road tripper and eventually more auto-x.
in the end i do want coilovers, wheels/tires, and that's about it.
I do 90% highway and 10% city, i drive 1hr-2hr's each way to work. I don't drive at night as much anymore, but eventually HIDs would be awesome for road trips as I do a few each year to QC, north, stateside.

I think you should share with the TM3 community, lol.

foglight cracked from a speeding rock on the highway sometime in the winter. It does bug me.

Fix the fog light. If it's housing damage you might have better luck getting a part from a wrecker or ebay.
Otherwise for 250? Just save it for a bigger purchase.

Problem i'm running into is there' not many wrecked 2007+ mazda 3 hatches, most are the round types.
unless mazda 3 drivers are terrible drivers and tend total their cars and have them scrapped, but that's usually a corolla thing.

Man. I feel privileged.
I can't recall the last time having $250 to burn was a big deal to me.

Its a no brainer, put the money in your RRSP or pay down debt,
cars are nothing but a money losing purchase unless you go vintage..

Sorry to take away from your thread, but I thought it was better posting here than starting a new thread..
I haven't recieved my T4 slip yet. Before I quit my job at Future Shop I told them and they said that a lot of people hadn't recieved it yet in the company and that they will be sending an email. It has been a month since then and I want to take matters into my own hands and email the government regarding the tax returns myself. Where can I do this? Who should I email?
Thanks guys.

You would want to call FS's HR department. The number would likely be on an old pay stub.

FS has to issue a T4 or else they get into big troubles. Nothing less than that. Did you also receive a Record of Employment? (ROE). When did you quit?
Better do it soon, deadline is coming up.
By chance I also work in HR so its not exactly a thread hijack.

Oh, that works perfectly then.
I quit 2 weeks ago on March 29th, I believe. Haven't recieved my ROE yet though. Come Monday I will definately call FS HR.
I'm a student that has been working there since July, so it isn't pennies either. I think it should be somewhere around $1,100. I want that money so bad!

And for you bud, I can't believe how many people on this forum chose 'Save and Invest' lol. Seems like people would want you to spend that money. I voted to fix your foglight (can't believe you already have a broken foglight) or save a bit more and buy NEW springs.

Oo. Then definitely get on it and contact Payroll. Easy to issue it anyways if you quit properly and HR was notified.

I was really fortunate this year and got a few k back, which we are putting towards the ms3 loan so that we could possibly pay it off by the end of the year and save the monthly payment so when my wife is off on mat leave and the pay runs out things won't be as tight on the monthly income

The Gov't should also have a record if your T4 was filed by FS.
The Gov't required employers to have their T4's filed by February 29 or else they charged a penalty of $25 a day ($100 min and $2500 max). At the very latest you should have received your T4 in the first week of March by mail.
Did you move or change your address? Sometimes it gets returned. Your T4 for 2007 would only cover the period from when you started in July to last pay in Dec.
You will also get another T4 for 2008 for your 2008 return. Could come with the ROE. The ROE would be prepared based on the next pay period after you quit so you could get it this week (bi-weekly pay or semi-monthly)?

I'm aware how the taxes work in terms that I would only be recieving money from 2007, but I appreciate you explaining it. I haven't changed my address since I was born, and I have been personally getting the mail for my family since February just because I really want/need the money.. ahahah greed! First thing tomorrow morning.. ring ring.. I WANT MY MONEY! lol I'll be civilized.
