Well since I love all ur pics, I'll give a little critism on this one. The top one seems a little to burnt with white on the rear of the roof and doesn't quite flow over to the front to tie in the rest of the car. Are you using a diffuser at all? I like the idea with the wheels but the shadows being unequal in angle throw off the pic.

the second pic is well done but needs a bit more contrast. The yellow line on the drivers side is unequal and makes it seem as though you didn't quite shoot the car head on. But I love the caputured angles of light on the car. Not to harsh, just right. Needs more light on the grill though.

As always, fantastic work :)

No diffuser. The silhouette of the car was done with multiple shots with me just holding the flash so it was difficult to get it even (as you can see I missed the sunroof area but I still liked the way it turned out). Kinda wanted to give the look of glow but may have done too much in the back area.
It was also a bitch to get the shadows to be equal while getting the right amount of light through the correct part of the wheel and while avoiding flare from the flash. I eventually go tired of bending down and adjusting the flash so i said screw it.

You have a good eye! The second shot wasn't really planned. I only noticed the missing left yellow line and the car not being exactly head only during post processing...oops.

so you walk around the car with a remote flash and trigger the camera?

That was definitly a lot of post processing then! Well done. I like what you were going for, but try using some sort of diffuser, the flashes are a little harsh on the car. I only wish I could have a setup like that, soooo nice.

Basically yes. I think ideally to do this shot with a single frame you would need 2 flashes for under car and some massive lights to evenly light the top of car. Since I only have 3 flashes and my tripods don't extend high enough to cover the top of car at the right angle (I don't have proper light stands for my flashes), I held one flash pointed at hood then took a picture, stepped a little towards back of car held the flash then took a picture, and so on till I covered the roof from front to back.

There's probably an easier/better way to do it...

Commerce Gate underground parking garage.
That place smells funny...especially due to moisture (was raining that day).

Did you use film for this and not digital (a.k.a "Painting with Light")?

You just have to make it fancy...:chuckle

John, how did you manage to make it so dark looking? I assume there were lights in the garage?

Yes, the garage was lit.
You can black things out when using flash.
All the shots are basically under exposed. The only parts properly exposed are those getting the light from the flash. Remember, camera will pickup only objects with enough light. What-ever that doesn't get enough light will be black.

Cool. I figured it was under exposed but I never would have even thought that's how you went about doing it.
