it won't sell in Canada, not suitable for our environment.

Why not? There's lots of convertibles on the roads here, even if you can only drive top-down a few months of the year.

unless it's turbocharged, with AWD, it'll just be another Solara...we don't need anymore Solara's...we could use a bigger faster Miata...

Faster Miata yes, but no need to be bigger =P

+1. I'd pay some serious cash for a Miata with 240+ HP

With the Atenza (Mazda 6) sedan and wagon variants failing to appeal to the Japanese domestic market, Mazda has come up with two new models to add to the Antenza line up including a new Coupe and a Cabriolet, as well as a new high performance model which - in Japan at least - will continue to be called the Mazdaspeed Atenza. Both new models will be based on the sedan chassis and Mazda hopes to achieve build quality on par with the BMW 3 Series models. The whole Atenza line up will mimic the BMW 3 Series range with both companies offering sedan, wagon, cabriolet, coupe and high performance models. Mazda will also produce a high performance Demio (Mazda 2) to address the demand in Europe for a more powerful version, although whether it will be marketed as a proper Mazdaspeed model is yet to be decided.

Wow... I really hope this does make it to North America..

^^ another sign that if your Mazda is starting to handle like a BMW, it's a good thing...

Mazda 6 is a family car segment. The chances of people in their 30s that will buy a convertible for daily use is very unlikely. You lose trunk space (compared to the hard-top version). There's also the Canadian whether. Solara sales also were not that good, which is a hint on how well a convertible will do in family car segment.

Thats my take on it anyway
Would you buy one?
If I get a convertible, I rather get a Miata.

Why not? Theres a market for all types of cars, the Demio is a great looking little car and the convertible and cabriolet will have suitors as well. give jeff some more tools in his mazda arsenal lol

I dunno how well the cabriolet will do, but the coupe is a great idea. If Honda can do it with the Accord then Mazda can do it with the 6....BETTER!!!
