Do any of you guys remember how much the 24,000 km check-up was including tax and oil change for the MS3? I'll need to go for mine in a month, so need to set aside money for it.

I just got my 24,000k maintenance for my regular 3 - it was around $340 incl. tax.

During the previous 8,000k services I just had the oil changed, so this time I opted for the whole package.

Most of the cost went to changing the air filters, but I don't know if it's the same for the speed3.

WTF!! That seems REALLY high. I got the 24k and it was just over $200.

MS3 would obviously more but at least you know it will be more than that.

Yea, I have the MS CAI and I just changed my air filter, so I wouldn't let them touch that. Pilzz told me for his MS3 came around $180 with tax. I remember hearing the dealer say it was $180 or around there. I am supplying my own Mobil1. And to CWP's comment, they do the exact same 24,000 km service whether it is the MZ3 or MS3, they are both the exact same cost.

I have to agree...unfortunately if you don't do it Mazda "could" void your warranty. :bang

Yea, I got it Oct 23rd or something. I've gone to visit my fiance where her and her family live in Quebec three times with the MS3, it's 1300 kms EACH way. I'll probably hit 35-40,000kms by the end of the year. In August she's moving to Montreal for school so thats less than 1/2 as far, but I still have to go all the way up there in August to help her move (the joys of owning a wagon...her parents only have a sedan, can't hold enough crap). Also planning about 6000kms in June-July. Driving to her place then taking her to Sydney, Nova Scotia in the MS3. I try and go to NS every year, my mom is from Sydney and I have a lot of family and hidden beaches right on the open ocean there along the Cabot Trail. =)

Thanks for the link. I agree this sounds like a BS service too, but you know what, I paid $1800 plux tax and finance on the 6 year warranty and my car is little by little less and less stock, so if it will make them happy then it is worth it.

Edit: BTW, on my dad's Yaris we just got 64k service done. They said the rotors just needed a light sanding and the pads were serviced, they said pads should last till 128k service on the Yaris. Thats a pretty long time.

also, i have been told that the most major part at 12k services is "Clean the Brake", which i just do that every month with a $5.99 brake cleaner from CNT.

Yea, I had that one done at 8000kms and 16,000kms... and it's the 16k service. at 8k i told the dude it was my second change, so he added without me knowing. 16k i had it done anyway, was cheap, like $10 extra or whatever.

The major part of the 24k service is that they should service the 'brakes' not just spray clean the brakes, that is where the bulk of the $180 goes.So its basically an oil and filter change, rotate tires, service brakes, check all levels and lube all hinges etc; for the 24k service.

If your going to pay $180 for the service, make sure they do the sliders! which means the calipers must be removed, sliders removed cleaned and re-lubed...otherwise if not done, its a waste of money.

Bringing the topic back from the crypt, but if I decline the 24k service (I did the oil change), whats the likelihood of warranty cancellation? The services are bogus, and i'd be able to do them myself for a lot less, but if it means keeping warranty...

If you perform the services as described; for that particular service and interval, and show proof, than you should have no problems should warranty issues arise!...But understand something; Services such as the brake cleaning and servicing, which includes Re&Re calipers, slider lubing etc; should be done and signed by a Licensed Technician or it can or may be challenged by the dealer.

how do you tell if they remove the calipers for the service. I just had my 24k service done today and i see anti-seize or some type of lube thats looks bronze on the calipers but how do I tell?

Unless your willing to tear it all apart or you we're there to watch them do it, there is no way of knowing that the job was done completely and properly. But do yourself a favour and if you can manage check to see that all caps have been placed on properly.....don't laugh I've seen this happen and it will seize the rotors in no time!

CAPS??? flagrum what do you mean by all caps? which caps are you talking about? I'm not sure what I should be checking out for.

btw, I did my 24k service at Dave wood and they offered me a TM3 discount. 17% off, my bill came out to $160.xx tax included.

:S $185 for a few minutes of labour. Pulling the tires off is the "hardest" part of the job...

DRAGAZN download the online shop manual and under brake service in the pics you'll see the caps I'm talking about.....I thought Wild Weasel had a How to on brakes here somewhere with some good pics for that....but can't find it!

Anyways, Silent for the 24k service they should be performing a brake cleaning service which includes dismantling the brakes inc; removing calipers, cleaning and lubing the sliders and cleaning all brake components. So its not just removing the tires!!

Yeah, I know about what is done, I just meant that the most labour intensive part of the services is pulling the tires. Pulling off callipers (2 bolts?), then smearing anti-seize on the sliders :P
