A guy at my work just bought a new car and is selling his Greddy BOV that he originally had on his VW Jetta. I think its a Type RS but am not 100% sure. I'm just wondering if it will work on the Speed 3. I'm really hoping so, as he's giving me an amazing deal.

yes that BOV will work with the flange adapter i believe.
I also have that BOV...and it's just a loud woshh of air..not whistles...nor high pitch.

it will work but you need to get the flange for it. Streetunit.com has the flange for $36.50

you need that flange or the BOV wont fit on your car.
Ask CTA Patrique if he can get you that flange from Street Unit. Once you get the flange you can screw the Greddy BOV onto that and then bolt it right in place of the stock BPV. Hope this helps out. Let me know

I thought BOV's caused the engine to bog down a lot when shifting or letting off the gas?

Thanks everyone! You have all been very helpful. Think im gonna order that flange piece. I know its just for sound but I'm getting it for $100 so I cant go wrong. Will I get any CEL's with the BOV though?
you shouldt get CEL by that. anyway, the HKS BOV sounds best IMO.

sorta off topic, but do you know if the HKS and the Greddy and use the same flange?
so you wouldn't have to weld another flange when you want to change BOVs.

Totally agree.....back when I had a boosted Civic I puchased the older GReddy Type S BOV and regretted it big time as soon as I had heard the HKS Super Sequential BOV. It was double the price though.
I haven't heard the RS, but I've heard good things about it on other forums. It's a great bang for the buck piece.

Ok so I found out its actually the Type S and not the Type RS. He is giving it to me for $100 though. Do you think that is a good deal? I went and watched a couple videos on youtube to hear the sound and i like it.

The Type S is really old, so I'd ask to see when it was purchased. I'm not sure what PSi the MS3 runs stock, but when I was running 5 psi it sounded pretty wussy, though when I adjusted the boost beyond 8 psi it sounded good.
Looking at eBay right now it doesn't look like you can get a Type S for any less than that, so it looks to be a reasonable deal.
ms3 boots up to 21psi at 3300rpm, then drop to around 8psi at 6000rpm.

The HKS is better quality, and sounds better ;)

The MS3 spikes around 20-21psi at 3000rpm and settles to 15.5psi till 6000rpm where the turbo runs out of boost.
