I read a loot about oil changes i bought my 04 GT with 84Km on it....
and for oil changes im going to dealer ... ( im not sure what previous owner was doing )

so the point is cracks on the filter - after my warranty will be gone
and after oil change my filter will leak .. and engine may blow - will dealer will be responsible for braking filter and will the fix engine ?

or they will not care ? and im screwed.

I hope it will never happen but if there is no protection i may change oil on my own ?

Well... You change the oil filter at each oil change, and if you're not confident in your ability to change your own oil then don't do it.
Either way, a drain plug accidentally falling out or a cracked oil filter are all careless occurances that can happen in any shop/dealership/oil change place.
If you do it yourself then at least you know the thing is tight as hell and all systems are go.
Most of the time the dealerships are best because they aren't guessing things like where is the drain plug and such.
It the 5 minute oil change places you have to be wary of.

This may have just been a bad choice of words, but it's worth pointing out that the oil filter cover should NOT be "tight as hell", and that's generally what causes them to crack and fail.

It should be torqued properly. I'm sure someone can chime in with the proper torque spec, but I believe it's fairly light.

For the oil filter housing - 30 to 35 N.m (22.2 to 25.8 ft.lbf).

If your DIY the filter housing wrench size should be 74mm (2.9in) diameter, 14 sided.

Actually I believe the main reason the plastic housings is that they are over-torquing the filter drain plug which has a REALLY low torque spec. My shop manual is at home. Do you have this spec handy?

Also, the torque specs are branded right on the filter housing. Any tech that ignores it is just irresponsible.
