I just talked to my dealer and we where talking about the 24k maintnance I just bought the car with 24900km on it now it has over 25100km or so and he said to call the previous owner of the car to make sure all the maintance was done on the car, I dont know who the previous owner was. Is there a way that mazda can search and find out with the VIN if all the maintance has been done if any recalls or anything has been done to this vehicle?

He said mazda can void my warranty if the previous owner didnt do his maintance? that doesnt make sense to me, I understand that he didnt do it, but I am willing to pay to do the maintance needed they will refuse it that doesnt make sense, im gonna need to pay for someone else being cheap?

Let me know if you guys know what I can do to cover my ass to make sure this car stays covered, I did make a appointment to get the brakes serviced not sure the price and change the oil. Should I put semi or full synthetic or just use the cheap stuff?

First use synthetic oil if you plan to keep it for a while..And did you buy a car from dealer or private?? because if dealer then they should have all records of service in. And if not I would still assume the dealer would have access to that kind of information in any given location using VIN number.. strange

I got the car from a local used car dealer, nothing to do with mazda. I called my local mazda dealer and he said he cant find if any maintenance has been done unless I talk to the previous owner witch I think is BS because how would they know if the 24K maintnance was done or not if they cant check?
I want to make sure the 24k maintance and any other maintance hasnt been done or has been done before I get it done and pay for it

Can you still get it done?

for sure they will do it. im not worried about that. What pisses me off is that lets say the previous owner did it, then I pay to do it again, mazda gets paid twice to do the same job? And lets say I do this maintance and then mazda turns around and voids my warranty down the line cause something else the previous owner didnt do.

if previous owner didnt do the service in Mazda, the dealer wont have the record for sure. honestly i wont do the 24k service if i am willing to sell the car at that mileage. you get a lesson now, you better ask the seller to provide the records when you buy the car next time.

If any work was done on the car at a Mazda dealership Mazda would have a record as someone mentioned. The previous owner might have had the oil changed at a quick lube place or did it himself.
Get an information package from the place you get your licences from - cost I think $40. it will show a record of the previous owners.
