View Full Version : So I left my moonroof overnight and....
So I was ready to goto work and lo and behold, I left the moonroof tilted overnight. :bang Good thing it didn't rain, but boy, that wouldn't have been a nice morning.
Anyone had this happen before?

All the time.
Unfortunately I did this before in my old car and it started to rain. BIG MISTAKE! The water soaked everything. Headliner, seats, etc. I was lucky nothing electrical was affected.

Apparently in one year, we swallow 4 spiders while we're sleeping....food for thought...no pun intended :chuckle

Not to mention the spiders that get in our ears...
I used to work in a family doc's office - 2 separate people came in because they felt something funny in their ears. One person had a live spider, the other was dead..

I left mine open last year...in the winter...thank god it was only tilted, and yes it did snow. As a result I had a nice line of snow across both seats and armrest. This was at 11pm, luckily I carry a vacumn in my trunk so I sucked it all up!
Ive never left it open in winter since then.

i read a story on another forum, where the guy's mk1 or mk2 rabbit/golf was infested with small orange spiders.
i think he ended up leaving his car, and one of those aerosol cans (that kills insects) in his garage overnight lol

My bad, I forgot to type the rest of the details. Anyways, glad it was a clear night, so my car was still dry. But yah, i'm gonna be paranoid now every time I exit my car.

Better than leaving your roof open while raining..
I saw a nice BMW convertable parked with roof down as it stared raining like there's no tomorrow...

The best way to make sure you always close your sunroof is to not buy one.

Yeah like auto close moonroof, auto off the lights, auto service reminder, auto problem detection, auto window closing, auto park, or maybe auto drive lol:chuckle

with the warm weather around us now, I leave the sunroof tilted a bit to let the hot air out the car....only thing is when it is looking like it's gonna rain I have to run out to the parking lot to close it

Had that happen in my old Z24 once and it rained hard. That's a mistake you only make once... :chuckle
I had to drive to the GO station that morning with the seats covered in garbage bags so I wouldn't get soaked!
I can't express how happy I was when it dried out and didn't smell mouldy or anything.

It has happened to me on several occassions already but luckily, it didn't rain or the care was parked in my garage. The sunroof doesn't tilt that much so you can easily forget about it and I actually complained about this in a previous thread.

Hahhahha...when I was driving my RX8 in the fall, I noticed the back of my hand was itching a bit. I looked and there it was....a spider crawling on the back of my left hand. I flipped out a bit and shook it off and when I came to a red light, I kept looking for the spider but no luck and for the next 10 minutes of my drive to work, I kept looking all around me. When I finally arrived at work, I quickly jumped out to look for the guy but he was no where to be found.
I haven't seen or heard from him ever since that encounter.

i know this is out of topic but since everyone is talking about bugs and spiders, has anyone have the problem where their car is attracting bugs and flies? Because i do. I wonder what's the best solution to like not be as attracted to them?

I believe some bugs are attracted to light colours - so maybe paint your car dark?:chuckle

I usually leave the roof wide open in the summer when I go somewhere for a short time. Keeps the inside cooler than sealing it up again.
Once I did this on a nice sunny day and went in a store. While in the store, the power suddenly went off and I looked outside and it was pouring rain. One of those freak rainstorms. I ran outside to close it up and got soaked. Interior was soaked too. Was thankful that I had leather that time for sure !!

It sucks when its a nice sunny day, and suddenly it thundershowers.
Happened to me the other day. Good thing the wind was going in the right direction, no damage at all.

Warning to anyone with a sunroof wind-deflector! Had a sunroof and spoiler in my CRX, I always closed the roof, except one evening I forgot too... just once! and guess what?...someone ripped off my wind-deflector :flaming
As for the bug thing, isn't having a spider in the car supposed to be Good luck? :)
Also, Last summer, I noticed after applying a coat of Carnuaba wax, that it attracted large amounts of bugs to my car (they would just sit there like they were feasting :chuckle).....I just wonder if its the wax that attracts them?! ....by the way I don't find the same with the synthetic wax.
