I purchased the 0000 8C L06 mounting kit (for self-dimming mirror) for my wife's 2008.5 Mazda3 GS with rain detecting wipers, having managed to buy, on Ebay, a 0000 8C Z02 self-dimming/homelink.compass mirror.
The illustrations in the installation docs supplied with the wiring harness seem to show the self same mount on the (correct) mirror! but I'm told by Mazda service since I have the wrong mirror, mine can't be installed. They indicate there are some rain sensing parts in the mirror unit, but I can't see how that can be. Do I have any options - can my mirror be mounted or apapted -can anyone give anyadvice?? I would prefer this reig to be installed by Mazda as I am not terribly adept!

Please help!!!!!

We do have a thread somewhere on this site about this, but I don't recall reading about anything about mounting problems.. just that you'd lose the rain sensing wiper function if you installed the dimming mirror.

I'll have to look up my part numbers but you are only supposed to replace the cover of the rain sensing unit. The actual sensor attached to the windshield is not changed.

The hardest part of the installation is getting the a-pillar off and the stock cover off.
