I have no idea whether this is the right spot to post this thread (mods please move if not), but I was was wondering whether it's possible to add stability control (ESC/DSC/VSC, whatever acronym Mazda uses) to a non-speed Mazda3?

I know the US-spec models come with this as a feature on the higher trims, and if I'm not mistaken there's a non-functional light for it on the instrument cluster, so I imagine part of the system is likely already there. I'd guess also (just a guess) that most of the sensor work is done with the ABS sensors that are already on the car.

Does anyone know whether this is possible? Maybe one of the parts guys (FLIPDADY?) can chime in?

I would think it's an ECU function requiring an ECU swapout..... Could be difficult or impossible.

Way too expensive... cheaper to buy a US salvage and swap out the parts.

+1 ^^

It's not just programming the ECU, there are a couple of sensors and bits that tie into the braking system. Near as I can tell from the shop manual, the ECU doesn't need to be changed out... the diagnostics talk about what it does if it does/does not find that DCS gear installed.
