Touring car racing may not be particularly popular in Canada or the US, but it's all the rage overseas, with many international and national race series. Many of the big players are involved, including BMW, Honda, Alfa Romeo and Seat. After pulling out of rallying during the '90s, Seat, the Spanish division of VW group (VAG), has focused primarily on touring car racing and its investments have paid out rather well.

Seat has won numerous titles and countless races, and has now kicked off its own single-make, single-model racing series for 2008. Dubbed the Seat Leon Supercopa (Seat Leon Super Cup), the race series will travel across Europe featuring a race version of the Leon. To celebrate, Seat is building 55 road-ready super high performance versions called the Leon Copa.

The most powerful car with a 2.0TFSI engine is this Seat - it makes a whopping 285 hp! (Photo: Seat)The Copa's power comes from a familiar source, but makes unfamiliar performance
figures. The 2.0TFSI four-cylinder engine, as seen in many VAG products, has been boosted to 285 horsepower, a whopping 85 horsepower more than conventional 2.0T engines, and 265 lb-ft of torque, which is actually more than the racer! All that power means that the compact Leon can accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, and, incredibly, has a top speed of 255 km/h.

And while the Copa doesn't come with a roll cage and a fuel bladder, or registration for the race series, you do get upgraded suspension with Eibach springs, larger disc brakes, and a throaty-sounding exhaust system. Inside, Copas come with a sport steering wheel and shift knob, plus aluminum pedals to bring out the racer in every driver.

kinda cool looking

Yeah it's like the body lines of a Golf GTI and a front end that hints Bugatti Veyron.
