last night between 10pm - 12:15pm my car (along with 2 others that i saw) was broken into in the silvercity parking lot in burlington. according to the police there was more than 3 cars, but i only saw 3. regardless. it was a quick smash and grab, and they left mostly everything, only took my oaklies. but left an ipod and othersunglass which they must not have seen.

the inside of my car is scratched like crazy, the door panel paint is all scratched. and my b-pillar is dented.

Wow, what a mess. Sorry to hear about your car. The Tint didn't seem to slow them down like some claim in ther adds. Probably just punk kids working the parking lot on a smash and grab.

Wow sorry to hear about that :( . Im always in that parking lot, usually at Sobey's thoug. I try to park there generally as its not lit up, and Sobeys is open 24hrs so there is almost always someone going in/out, and Dimitris is also open, and people are always outside at night.

Best of luck getting it repaired.

Sorry to hear about your car! Hoping for quick repairs.

Were the Oakleys in plain view? You said the other stuff was hidden, but they took the Oakleys.

breaking into a car is still excessive for a pair of oakleys.

i hate people.

i leave nothing in plain view. i had nothing in the cup holder, and my center console is obviously closed. my oaklies were in my center console. so if you look into my car it seems like i have nothing inside it. so they had to break into my car to find out i ACTUALLY have nothing

Sorry to hear that man...Sounds like you've been having some bad luck early on with this car!

I remember just the feeling of being violated after my old car was broken into. Knowing someone else was in there...ugh. I feel your pain.

I'll add my "sorry to hear that"....
Happened to me a few years ago. Went to Detroit for the autoshow and was really nervous about parking downtown. On the way back, we stopped in London, ON for a quick bite, and someone smashed the window. They grabbed a bag (which was empty) and left my ipod, digital camera and watch in the front console. The biggest pain is cleaning up and getting everything fixed :( Make sure that whomever replaces the window, pulls the interior door seal off and vacuums all the glass out, otherwise you'll have little pieces rattling around in there....

Mafty
05-10-2008, 04:32 PM
ya i can hear the glass ratteling around in the door now. so ill make sure that gets cleaned out. i vacuumed the car out myself already. since i think i would probably do a better than the mazda dealer, and so i can drive lol.

Man, I know your pain I was broken into pretty recently as well, but they went in through the rear side window. My window also broke to the outside, so I didn't have as much glass inside as you.

But I have glass in my door. I am taking it apart today to vacuum it out since the place the replaced it did not.

I also have not got my window re tinted yet, I might take all the tints off.

**** ... sorry to hear about that happening to you. Some loser a-holes keyed my car recently down almost all of the passenger side. Peed off as well cuz just like you, we ourselves gotta pony up the money to fix what some other losers thought was fun to do.

I still say, punishment should be doing to their body what they do to our pride and joy. It's not the first time I've had someone keying my car; catch the asshats and key their face! For you, smash their ribs! LOL

Wow that's terrible man. I'm glad there wasn't any worse damage or anything else taken. I wonder if the alarm basically deterred them from searching further. Its a shame that people can do this. I hope everything gets fixed soon.

Sorry to hear man. I hate that parking lot. Even tho I live 5 mins from there I always drive to the AMC Oakville one as I like that parking lot better.

I always try to lock any valuable small items in the glove box. Looks like they still woulda smashed your window anyways in this case though.

That's awful.. very sorry to hear about what happened.
A very similar situation happened to me in Burlington years ago when I lived there. My car was parked in the driveway overnight, and I got a call from the neighbour early one morning to tell me that my stuff was strewn across their front yard. I came running out to find shattered glass all over. I had left my workout bag in the back seat and the thieves just walked away, dumping out the stuff they didn't want as they went. Turned out they did several cars on the street, just walking along from house to house, smashing windows and taking whatever they found and wanted to keep. Total scum of society.

2 door panels being repatined from the glass scratching it. the entire passanger interior door panel was replaced since it was recked. the dash had to be fixed. new glass, new tint. and then all the install for that

That is just horrible, sorry to hear man. After something like that all you can think about is what you would have done if you caught them in the act.

At least you know they had to put some work into breaking through the glass. Gotta love how tint holds the glass together but a pain to clean up if it does shatter.

reviving dead thread

well, it would appear that after washing my car and cleaning out the inside last night i must have accidentaly left the car unlocked. well anyways, my ipod was stolen out of it, and the entire car was searched front to back (lights were on inside the car). which i realize is semi my fault, but it is very unsetlling to think that someone is walking around in the middle of the night pulling on door handles to see if someones is unlocked, we have 3 other cars in the driveway, and mines at the front so someone obviously tried them all.

so this is break in number 2 within 3 months of owning the car............does my car have a sign on it saying break into me? like wow......

Wow. Deja Vu! I had my car window smashed, and Ipod stolen. I now keep NOTHING in my car but the owners manual, Documentation, 5 dollar knockoff sunglasses, a couple burned CD's and the most basic of tools.

It really shakes your faith in humanity. At least you avoided another window smashing!

Stupid crack heads needing to support their habits!

Guelph's not THAT bad... but it is on the rise. Just be conscious of where you park and your surroundings. Avoid the slummy areas and use well lit lots in heavily trafficed areas.

Aftermarket alarms are also a good investment to avoid B&E's too. They may appear to be an expensive purchase in the begining, but they are cheaper than a broken window. Just make sure you arm it or it is useless.

From personal experience (having had 2 cars stolen from "safe" well lit and frequented lots and 1 car broken into in my own driveway)...where you park makes absolutely no difference....unless it's your own garage lol

If they want to break in to or steal your car....they will...simple as that

I've also suffered a broken into car and had my stereo cleaned out on my old civic years back....sorry to hear about your case!

Wish we could leave a poisonous snake in the car for when stupid people want to break in. Does anyone have a hidden camera installed? Cause I would definitely consider getting one of those.

id consider it considering i plan on moving to a bad part of guelph or a 2 way alarm system this way your car is safe and no worries. plus think about and im sure your the same way. your lives are in your cars. they have everything in there that you need. and then one night its all gone. sad really

locking your glovebox is only going to increase the damages when/if you get broken into....lock on glovebox door isn't going to stop anyone that is breaking into you car...then you are going to need a new glovebox door which will likely cost more than whatever it was that you locked inside

well chances are they will look at the glovebox realize its locked and piss off. and if not then well they must be really desperate for things to steal...
