So I couldn't stand the idea of doing the 30min backup when it was right there in front of me, so straight to stage II + for me.

The car felt like it pulled harder in the warmer tempurature then it had been pulling but didn't feel particularly stronger then the car has on its best days... but then again the ECU may need to relearn its optimal settings after the reflash. It didn't break the tires lose as hard in second as it has before

That being said i do notice the powerband improvements, and for the warmer weather so far i would say i am pleased. I am looking forward to more maps being available and would deffinetely recommend it to anyone still on the fence.

Looking forward to going back to my baseline dyno to really compare the band and numbers since like the cai/sri peak gains can be hard to notice sometimes

yeah you gotta make the ecu relearn but keep us posted

yeah...would love to hear your observations on the ECU relearning as well!

Just did another drive... it is deffinetly faster, i think i was getting thrown off by the few hundred rpm sooner powerband pick up and smother transition to full power.

This is hard to explain, but the car feels more like an OEM car with 325crank HP, then a car with 260hp with mods if that makes any sense. The car feels faster, yet less stressed out about doing it.... if it could talk i am sure it'd say cobble cobble followed by a thank you lol

so the ecu must be done figureing out where it is, the car is pulling really hard today after going out for another test drive.

Great news!!

Do you have a full TBE and COBB intake?

^^^ he did. thats why i want the DP first. i like to feel the difference vs APed DP.

i have the dp and cobb sri... be sure to use the ap to clear the learnable information when you get yours.

and, when i was driving back on the hwy, the realtime mpg (ours, not the ap) was reading way better fuel consumption numbers when i wasn't hot footing it

Can you elaborate on this? I left the AVG for about 6 wks now and it's 10.0l/100km even now...

i reset mine every tank... normally at 120 the realtime consumption reads worse, after the ap realtime mpg was better

do you sense/feel any of the stuttering/hesitation others have felt?

I remember you mentioned getting the TSB flash done...

any thoughts about upgrading fuel pump?

Can you explain the "use the AP to clear the learnable" stuff a little more?

i had the flash... you need to back that up if you want to keep it. I have had a little hessitation in 4th gear twice, but i had that before as well. mazda flash didn't fix the issue

there is an option to clear the learnable data and then it will need to relearn again as if you had disconnected the battery

Update on how it's going.

I noticed some slight stuttering happening in 4th - 6th. Did some reading on the Cobb forums and noticed that the plugs should be gaped to .30 when I knew my plugs were gaped to .40

Did re-gaping today, and stuttering is gone :) Keep in mind I also have the 1 step colder iridium plugs. Have plenty of those in stock if anyone's interested.

Reset the ECU again after the re-gap, so baby will slowly learn over the next day or so...... cobble cobble.....

You'd have to check to be absolutely sure.

If you didn't do the backup of your stock ECU, what happens when you want to un-marry the AP?

COBB has the stock map, b/c when you flash your ECU, AP doesnt change your date mark from last service, that means no matter how offten you flash the ECU, the date will be the same. :hawt

....be gaped to .30 when I knew my plugs were gaped to .40 , Did re-gaping today, and stuttering is gone :)

how can you re-gaping it? is there some sort of tool required?:loco

Fobio

CDN Tire sells a gapping tool (sp?)...any of your mechanic friends will also have one...personally, I do not know how to DECREASE the gap, I know how to just widen it...

Q15. How do I regap my spark plugs?
A15. To open the gap, carefully use a pair of fine nosed pliers or a specialist gapping tool (not slide type for Iridium or other fine wire types) to bend the ground electrode outwards, away from the centre electrode. Take care not to contact the porcelain insulator or the centre electrode as they can be easily damaged. Use a feeler guage to check for the correct gap size - it should be a light sliding fit. To close the gap, tap the ground electrode gently on a hard surface and then open the gap to the required setting using the method described above.

I have a gaping tool. If anyone wants to borrow it let me know. Might also be a good opportunity to get some nice colder Iridiums :)

Save me a set. I'll pay you next week at the same time of the balance of the AP when you get your second batch and you're ready to ship mine.:)

dp = downpipe
colder plugs are used to get rid of the stuttering that happens sometimes when you're wot. I never had any stuttering but I'm expecting some with a fmic and dp.

Noob Q: What is your Boost PSI at idle? mine's at 10.9 psi and dips to -9.x psi when the air conditioner kicks in...

EDIT: ok...just found this on M3F...needle in a haystack:

Quote from: dread on May 17, 2008, 10:40:45 PM

I can't complain except when boost is reading double digit negatives it will read as positive because there is no room for the negative sign.

Door: Ding dong.....

Me: who is it?

Door: knock knock knock

Me: *runs to the door with the biggest smile*

MY AP arrived! :)

took an extra 30min to download my ecu info then back to work. I put it in stage 1 mode and then reved it up every time I had a chance and started laughing by myself lol i need help :loco

Get to work and decide to try theft mode....5 min later sitting in the lot I give it a try. it goes to start and then poof shuts right off! lol too bad it takes soo long to reset the ecu. I will put it in stage 1 + SF tonight :)

So far feels the same except when I was reving it at the light it sounded more hungry, if that makes sense.

I was thinking....can you flash it while you drive? I would start the valet mode or theft mode before I actually stop the car that way you minimize the wait time :)

Fobio
05-29-2008, 03:49 PM
Yeah, it won't change maps while your car's started, which I think is a good thing...hehe...

I concur that this difference is subtle, but I definitely think my car breathes louder for some reason too....can't wait for the SRI.

anyone have Stage 2+ dyno results yet?

MS3Pilot
05-30-2008, 07:06 PM
I'm running the stage 1+ with Mazdaspeed CAI and CBE. Love it, after the ECU has re-learned it seems to be running much smoother, pulling stronger, and as others have said during free revving it seems to be a bit throatier!

I am very pleased...no isses with my setup so far.
