So tonight I met up with RJ3, and unfortunately I noticed that, between the timings from 5pm - 9:30pm at the heartland center. a couple of punk(s) decided to steal my stubby atenna. Since I didn't wash my car, there were markings on the roof, but I wouldn't be surprised that they came on here, since my TM3 sticker was displayed.

Now I'm deciding if I should get a sharkfin.

^ careful. I used locktite on my old one and it ate away at the base and I had to pull down the roof lining in the back of the hatch to screw a new one in... not fun.

After reading the title, I thought someone got their car stolen, glad it was only the stubby. You should get a shark fin to replace your antenna, its also harder to steal.

I dont think I should have an issue with epoxy ruining the base.. I'm really doing this tomorrow though.. people are such twats..

That sucks Fonz. At least it was only a stubby and not anything more.

It's more just a nuissance than anything, which is still just as large of a piss off. Sorry to hear it, man.

Grab a piece of rubber (like from a tube patch kit) and a pair of pliers. Use the pliers to reef down the antenna, using the rubber to keep the pliers from marking up the antenna. You don't have to go super tight... just enough to make it difficult to remove by hand.

+1... just like I think most people do with their chrome valve caps...

Thats one of the reasons why I went with a sharkfin

Also in my Golf the base of the antenna started to fade and I didnt want this happening with this car

Thanks for that post, Joe. I thought I was going out of my mind, I was SURE that it didn't say "stubby" last time I looked...

I realize that. But when I saw the thread title, I was really confused, because I didn't remember it saying it before. I thanked him because now I know that the title was changed... and I'm not going crazy.

Damn, that sucks man. Sorry to hear about that. Some people are just *******s, but if they do things like that for long enough, they'll eventually get caught and get what they deserve.

Newbie question: What's the difference between a shark fin and a stubby? I'd never heard of either of them before I came on this board

Go with the Sharkfin regardless. I've had two stubby's break on me. One in an Esso car wash & one being hand washed at Scarborough Mazda. I'm still driving around with my fish pole. Haven't gotten around to ordering a Sharkfin.

I think if somebody tries to steal your stubby and they can't get it off, they'll prob get pissed and just scratch up your car.

My stubby was not put back or stolen (depends on how you want to look at it) while my car was being serviced at Mazda for an accident. Of course they replaced it almost two weeks later with a new one.
