So you drove around for two minutes with your emergency brake on?

I think he's saying that he stopped the car, applied the E brake, and left it like that for 2 mins or so.
If I'm understanding his post correctly then, no you probably didn't cause any damage as that would be similar to parking the car and holding the break down with your foot for 2 minutes.

I thought that's what he said but I couldn't be sure because that sounds odd to me.

As long as you don't drive to Montreal with the e-brake up you're fine.

To quote the late, great Mitch Hedberg,
They shouldn't call it the emergency brake. They should call it the make the car smell funny lever.
:chuckle
you got out of the car when it was still in drive and only the ebrake was holding it?
dangerous dude.

Who did that?
My father-in-law drove his Dodge Caravan on trip somewhere with some friends. At some point they switched drivers. His friend got in the drivers seat, released the hood latch, and off they went. End result was new rear drums, shoes, brake cylinders.......
Yes, on the Caravans made in the early 2000's the hood release is in the same place every other car puts the brake release :bang.
For some reason they put the brake release back to the "normal" location on the next model revision.......

just your break pads will wear out quicker if it was 2 min

If you're flooring it and not moving and there's a funny burning smell it's probably not a good thing :chuckle Fortunately most people notice this pretty quickly (unless you're going for a driving test and the ministry guy is sitting next to you, that was embarrassing :blush).

I've done it before, it's quite the smell lol. I did it longer then 2 minutes and everything was still good.
