I just recieved my official insurance paper today and noticed it says 2008 MAZD MAZDA 3 SPORT GS and my VIN number following that. The heck? I bought a GT...why did they put GS on it? I will check my ownership in abit but that seems odd. What does it say on your insurance paper?

On mine it says GT... Strange! Maybe just a typo!

Mine said the same as well. Who did you go with? I'm with Bel Air direct and when I questioned them they said they put them both in the same category. When I got an official note from them it mentioned "Mazda 3 Sport GS\GT" on the papers.

I'm with RBC. There seems to have no indication whatsoever.

Why not, if you're paying less for the same don't bitch. Don't worry about it anyway, the VIN would tell the company exactly what you're driving.

Mine says GX and the car is definately a GS. I asked the Broker and he said GS/GX are rated the same.

mine says "06TOYOTA YARIS LE" when we have a 4 door RS model. I've been pulled over for speeding before and yea, doesn't matter it was marked LE

For my Mazda it says "08MAZDA MAZDASPEED" doesn't even say it is a 3, lol!

Wonder if anyone has Mazda3 Hatch for their Mazdaspeed3?

Are they in the same category?

Statefarm has all Mazda3's in the same category, except the speed3.

With most insurance companys the engine size is the determining factor.

So:

Mazda3 Sport GX = 2.0L & GS/GT = 2.3L
Mazda3 Sedan GX/GS = 2.0L & GT =2.3L

Same with mine and Pilot Insurance. Anyone use ING??

Mine says the same thing (GS but I have Sport GT). I'm with Johnson's insurance.
The VIN number matches so I never bothered with it.

Biz's post makes sense. Sport GS/GT both have 2.3L.

I ended up paying less with my 07Speed3 than my 06Sport GT when I traded it in ....go figure.

i'm with td meloche... the rates for a gs is cheaper than gt. thus, you may be getting a cheaper rate.

that info comes from the insurance bureau of canada, they may class the GS and GT as the same, it makes no difference to you the price will be the same. Everything runs through your VIN so it is 100% correct, there is no need to question it.

It's common they'll group different trim levels together if there is really no difference in the car aside from options.

the sedan and hatch will be classed differently as they are different cars.

I hope this helps

I don't get it, mine is a GS sedan but it's 2.3L and I just got a new insurance quote today. they consider it a GX, so even though the engine size is different, they still consider it a nominal difference?

If you have a GS sedan you don't have the 2.3L. You'd have the 2.0L.

I told you not to question it, I'll lay it out a little further for you.

In Canada, the 3 Sedan comes in three different trims; GX, GS, or GT. GX is really the base, power-nothing and only two speakers. While the GT is the Cadillac of Mazdas, with 17-inch alloy wheel and optional leather interior and power sunroof. I decided to go in between with the GS model. The GS model gives you the following

-4 speakers instead of two
-keyless entry
-steering wheel mounted radio controls
-body color painted door handles
-15-inch alloy wheels
-manual seat controls

as you can see the GS provides nothing different that would impact insurance. The 2.3 litre engine is not a big deal IBC rates the GX and GS sedan AS THE SAME CAR.

IF YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT ANYTHING THERE IS NO NEED TO WORRY.
