Hey guys,
I am thinking of buying the K&N CAI and just using the short ram because I'm a pansy and I am scared of rain and snow. Since I cant find anyone locally that sells a SRI for the mazda 3, I was wondering if it would be worth buying the extra tube from the CAI or should I just keep it? How much would that piece of aluminum even be worth by itself??

jsut buy the K&N cai from one of the sponsors.
and i wouldnt be too worried about sucking up water. every always has this concern, but ive never had a problem, and my car is much lower then most mazda3's.

I don't think many of us have gotten CEL from their CAI. I have an Ingen CAI, installed for about a year now.. no CEL issues.

Thanks for all your help guys!
I checked out one of the sponsors and Im happy with the price they gave me for the K&N so I am going to grab it from them. Time to start supporting the forum and modding my car one bit at a time!

Yeah that K&N is a good one.. you can't go wrong with that one.

I figured I might as well dish out a lil extra for the K&N and have the option to go short ram in the winter because I don't want to have to worry about snow!

I've had one for almost a year now, SRI mode in the winter and CAI in the summer. Never a CEL issue and I can vouch for the temperature difference between the modes. SRI mode puts the filter in a horrible place regarding heat.

Hi group, about to purchase a 2008.5 M3 GT Limited here in Regina, it has the speed cai and speed exhaust and some other features. in reading the threads and this is my first Mazda and first car with a CAI, what the heck is a "CEL" and an "SRI" this car has a long CAI towards the bottom, not up in the engine area like some I have seen
I assume that in the Sask. winters we have I should change the CAI to something shorter to avoid snow/water etc.
Advice needed, well not until October I guess haha

CEL = Check Engine Light
SRI = Short Ram Intake (inside engine bay)
CAI = Cold Air Intake (in the fender well)
