a little more info would be great.
ie, model, add ons, etc etc.

im leasing a '07 mazda3, thats all base, except for AC, and its a $17,000 car brand new.

none of that matters as the range Ive provided is the ACV for all mazda 3 in the 04 year, options don't add alot of value

It's easier said than done to find a really cheap and GOOD mazda. I found about 8 Mazda Sport GT's below $14k, and every one I looked at was priced so low because the previous owner had driven the s**t out of the car. This isn't to say that a GT below $14k is going to be a bad car, but only that it's exceedingly rare to find a good one.

Check Mazda dealer listings, and a good used 04' will around $14 - $17 000 before tax. It really depends on the km's, wear and tear, and add-ons to the car.

What came with the car? Does it have leather? Tint? Manual or automatic? etc, etc, etc. Did you get the car from a dealer, or private sale? Accidents? Visible marks or scratches to the interior or exterior?

If the car's been maintained really well, it has some add-ons that would have cost you another $500 - $1000 to put on anyway, then $17 000 after tax might not be a bad deal. However, if it's a base-model GT with nothing special about it, then yes, it looks a bit too pricey.
