Now that the product is installed and being tested, I'm wondering if anyone else has interest in this piece. Your thoughts on the piece with regards to the AP?

Some guy on MSF has been testing it and will be dynoing this wknd, appears to work with AP Stage 2+...GB anyone?

I've been told that the unit is $690, and should be well under $100 for shipping, if we can get in on the 1st 10. There are 5 spots left...any thoughts?

I though it wasnt a good thing to have the pipe going over the engine like that? I think the cobb one doesn't. CPE one, should be like that too....

This is a nice setup here but just not sure this exhaust depot will be better than these 3...cheaper maybe

I really like thier stuff from reading reviews on srtforums over the years, my only draw back is it was planned and built in a day vs. a real procedure like what cobb outlines below which is why i am still kinda leaning towards the cobb gb pat will be doing but this kit is a close second and i really appreciate the good price they are offering



We have composed the requested information for you all to review. I understand that some (whom are accustomed to laboratory testing procedures) may not agree with our testing procedures, you have every right to your opinion. We understand and appreciate the ability to test under fully sealed, temperature, atmospheric pressure, speed-variable wind tunnel ideal conditions. Although, I don't think the market would appreciate an intercooler that was priced at $5000 ea., just to cover the R&D costs involved with the implementation of that system. Please understand that we have no reasons to lie about our results. We are simply a team of engineers whom are reporting our findings to you. Although, this post in intended to give you an idea of the basic intercooler core testing procedures that occur on our chassis dyno. We also complete extensive testing of our cores/FMIC systems at various road race, SCCA, drag race, and while daily driving the vehicle as well. I am not able to release much information concerning the details of exactly what cores we tested and the specific test results for each. Please understand that this information is proprietary. Our testing was performed so that we could develop a FMIC kit for the MS3 that used the best core possible (according to test results, not other preferences) for a competitive price. We feel it would not be fair to the manufacturer to post their brand names up because the market's assumption would most likely be that Brand A, B & D sucks, when ultimately, they simply did not perform as well as Brands C, or E. Brands A, B, & D might have not tested as well for this application, but they may provide better test results for a different design. This is why we test cores for ALL of our different FMIC applications.

Our data acquisition system is a PC based data acquisition system that uses a Vaisala HMW71Y Humidity and Temperature Transmitter along with a Vaisala PTB Atmospheric Pressure Transmitter. These devices are used as the systems weather station and apply the appropriate SAE corrections with real time calculations while the tests are being performed. Our system is maintained appropriately and calibrated at proper intervals.

The temperature probes that we utilize are externally amplified, fast-acting probes that are sampled at 50 Hz (50 times a second) and the pressure transducers are sampled at 100 Hz (100 times a second). Sensor data can be filtered from that point. One of each probe is placed equal distance, several inches from the cores entrance and exit ports (you can see the lines draped across the front of one of our test cars). We have completed extensive testing on the available cores on several different occasions and we also test them under racing conditions prior to being comfortable with their release. The vehicle pictures have been taken with the bumper off to give you a better idea as to where everything is located. An intercooler core can be too big or too small, finding an appropriate sized and designed core and end tanks is not an easy task. We also do what we can to not compromise the safety of the vehicle. Running with an intercooler core that requires you to remove the front crash beam is a very bad idea, and is not recommended.

Generally, some tests will be performed in the same gears that the power dyno tests are completed in to allow for easier analysis. Other tests involve running the vehicle through all gears. As you can see by the below dyno graph, several additional traces are present. These traces represent before and after IC core temperatures (red and orange), before and after IC core pressures (dark green and light green), torque (blue), and horsepower (red). This data is used along with other data to determine which core is the best performing core for this application. Additional factors such as core weight, core type, core size, power production, ability to pass air through the IC core to the radiator, and price are included in the analysis. We generally take the average values recorded over the test to help determine which core is better for this application. As you have seen from our dyno results, we are not a fan of using peak numbers in our data analysis.

I hope this post gives you a better understanding of some of the testing procedures that are performed in-house prior to any additional road testing. All test equipment can be removed from the chassis dyno computer and installed in the vehicle for continued road testing with a separate, in-car data acquisition system. The test results that were posted prior by one of our mechanical engineers are actual observed average values that our data acquisition system recorded.

Anyone can sell whatever their design is, but there is something to be said about the less pipe/conections (aka boost leak issues) in the exhaust depot design. good for less lag

^^Does this setup allow for the undertray to be reinstalled?

in regards to the "over the engine issue", each of them suffer from it to a certain entent, which I will likely address by having it ceramic coated before install...even if it's just the section over the engine...what do you guys think?

of course, I appreciate r&d just as much as the next guy...just trying to gauge an ideal price point between the options...I like how C-PE and Cobb play nice...

Not sure Fobio. That pic I found on Google images from a mazda 3 forum not M3F. And it is a mazdaspeed in the pic :) I say yes because the pipe looks to be the same height as the wheel slotted cover from that pic...leaving enough clearance but I could be wrong

yes that is the same setup as my intercooler the skid plate will go back on

yup i gonna be changing mine friday u got to take the top pipe off to change the 3rd cylinder plug
