Blood Donation Meet Interest

Just want to see if there is interest in having a Blood Donation meet.
A way to give back to the community. You may save a life!
Lets see how many ppl we can get after 2-3 weeks. Date will be set a month or two in advance. I'll have to book it with bloodservices.ca as well. I called Canadian Blood services again, if we have enough people, they may send out a blood donation truck. They'll call me back in a few weeks, which is good since we'll have more numbers by then

I called Canadian Blood Services, they say under normal donations, whether it is Blood, Plasma or other types, you are good to drive afterwards. They lady on the phone said she has no problems driving after donations. If it matters, they take "Approximately 450 mL (1 pint) of blood is collected during a blood donation."

I'm interested also. I've always wanted to donate some blood but have never really gotten around it. And you are absolutely right about "it may save a life"!

^^ He's right; it doesn't hurt really, if that is your concern. It's a good cause, so it's something to think about. And if you pass out hopefully there is a hawt nurse to help you out! :chuckle

I am fully supportive of this, Being 6 weeks premature at birth and needing blood transfusions I know the importance of donating blood. One single donation can save 3 different lives. I've given almost 20 times now.

I gave in march before my trip down south and now unfortunatly I can't donate until next march.

I'm in - dependent on time and location. I've been a donor for quite a while now and it certainly does make a difference. A close relative of mine had a successful transfusion a few years ago - thanks to donors.

I would be down for donating but it would have to be after the end of july cus I got a piercing in January and you have to wait 6 months before you donate blood if you have gotten a tattoo or a piercing.

and will likely be in September; trying to get as many people as we can.

there wasn't much interest, so I never set it up.
Someone tried to set one up on another board and failed as well.

If the members want, I can setup something at 16 and younge. There is a blood donation clinic at Hillcrest Mall.

And guys, There's a blood donor clinic in Square one. I've just been re-cleared to give blood (I have vitiligo, They weren't sure exactly what caused it so told me to hold off (for the last 2 friggin years) But i will resume donating! 5 time donor, soon to be 6!

I suggest parking by the Moxies. It's got some night life so they won't hassle us about being there in the evening. Its not far the from the timmies. The blood donor is just north of the food court on the lower level in square one. Fairly close to that entrance.

Badminton is at Rivergrove community centre. You can find it on the mississauga website under parks and rec. I don't know when the next season starts.
