Has anyone actually installed a block heater on a ms3? I hear its a bit of a challenge and might be behind the block somewhere. I live in winnipeg, where block heaters are pretty necessary if you park your car outside in the winter (heck, sometimes in the summer...)
let me know!

not easy to do, have to remove the header to access where it goes.

You can get heaters that install into one of the coolant hoses... not sure how well they work though....

okay, must remove header. Does it need a new gasket? Are there directions anywhere around to do this? mazda manual? I've done plenty of work on cars, but don't want to guess where things go...

Also, what was the issue with the block heater not being available for the first year? Something about getting csa passed?

I'm assuming it should be the same block heater as one for the regular 3.

Anyone? Surely someone has installed a block heater... or maybe Toronto is just too warm for these things! Anyone have a shop manual on how to install one? Don't need it today (thankfully!) but come December I will definitely need one.

I'll have a look at the shop manual for you. What do you need to know beyond whether a new gasket is required?

well, location of frost plug, maybe where the antifreeze outlet is, suggested wiring location etc. Basically anything that could help!

Hey I'm in the same situation as you. I got my car from the US and they don't offer winter packages down there cause well they dont get snow very often lol. I've been wondering as well about a block heater. I'll have to call up the stealership here and see how much it costs.
