Which lubricant is better and what kind of results can one expect when fixing a squeaky seatbelt buckle? Minimal odour + mess is definitely preferred.

I think the Dry Graphite might be a more suitable product. It remains dry so it resists pick up of dust, dirt and lint.

It's only a squeaky seatbelt, I wouldn't want to book an appointment, then have a mechanic to drive my car, then apply WD40 for something I can do in 2 seconds. What's the point?

I totally agree. DIY is always my preferred method if it's within reason. The idea of some random mechanic in my ride is unappealing. I'm going to fix it myself. Seems straightforward except for the fact that I couldn't decide between the 2 lubricants. Garu suggested white lithium b/c he had a similar issue so that's what I'm going to buy.

i brought mine in a while back.
they took a look at it, and they said they had to order a new buckle.
on the final work order, it said it was replaced under warranty, because it was defective, or something along those lines.
i'd definetely bring it to mazda.
altho, the one that i had replaced back in march or so is starting to squeak again, so who knows.

My previous car had squeaky seat belt receiver as well.. it looks like a generic problem that all cars have.. (it was an Acura TL) I'm yet to hear it from my mother's Nissan though..
I sprayed WD-40 into the receiver and the squeak was all gone for about a year. It returned only to be gone again with a touch of WD-40.
