Hey Everyone,

Not technically a review, but i was hoping someone can post their impressions regarding a product if you've used/heard of it.

The product is called "ScanGauge (http://www.scangauge.com/)".

I've seen it on Edmunds.com and it's used to track a number of things such as fuel consumption (one reason i want to buy it) along with engine codes etc. For a full set of features you can look here (http://www.scangauge.com/features/), although some of the functions may not be available.

So... have any of you heard of it? good/bad things?

thanks in advance!!!

I've been very interested in this myself.
I was browsing the hypermiling.com website and looking to get better fuel economy.

All my previous and other current cars have this type of car data within its car info system. However, since I have a 04 - this system wasn't yet in place as it is for the newer models.

I've heard great things about it, but i wanted to hear it from a fellow TM3 member.
In a recent news series done on CityNews - Chris Reyes and some girl use the Mazda 3 as their demo car. If you look closely... this 3 also seems to have the scan gauge on the centre console.

i have it in my MX-6...use it to clear CEL codes, as well as monitor coolant Temp, voltage, rpm, and km/h while driving.

it is also fairly accurate in its L/100km reading (which you have to do an initial setup for: set fuel tank size, fill up, drive to as close to empty as possible, fill up at the same pump if possible, enter L -- which sets a correction factor -- and $). its trip computer is fairly accurate and will even tell you how much your current trip cost you.

it is very simple unit that doesn't have any "flash" or bling to it...it gets the job done for a cheap price.

Sold... Thanks Majestic!! Once i pick it up (in a few weeks), i'll post my impressions up and try to do a step-by-step for the setup process!

Thanks again

I was actually able to get one on the 5th. I left for a trip to Quebec on the 9th. It seems to be pretty accurate and def gave me some good info during the trip.

I have a scangauge that I used for my Supercharged Tacoma. Great unit. It wan nice because I was constantly tripping CEL's at the time. I am not using it anymore unless I need to pull a code. It would be an asset for hypermiling though...

I've been using one in my protege for almost 2 years. It's the bigger older version of the one you posted in the original link, but it does the work nonetheless.

It's useful and great for checking CEL codes too.

works amazingly well! Ziploc used his to get 2 engine codes out of my car!
I should definately pick up one of these, great tool to have for any driver (especially on a modded car) :)
