Hey everyone,

I just picked up a set of OEM all weather mats, only to realize they are in the way of the clutch. They probably aren't affecting the transmission but I would feel better if I can depress clutch all the way to the carpet, rather than hitting the rubber mat. I noticed on my friend's bimmer his all season mats are cut nicely such that the clutch can depress all the way to carpet.

Anyone want to comment on this issue? I'm assuming most people just live with it. Are the MS3 mats any different? Did anyone cut or trim their mat in some way around the clutch pedal?

Thanks!

I've only heard of this problem when they (the all-weather mats) are placed over the carpeted mats.I've used the oem AWMs for two years no problem. (Remove your carpet mats).
.
Be warned though the OEMs don't cover very well and you should either consider getting quality aftermarket ones; there's a GB on it right now or get some plastic covering and cut it to shape, to cover your complete carpet, this will eliminate that salt crust build-up all over your carpet by the end of winter...Nasty Shite!

well it's not blocking the clutch per say, what I mean is that when I "floor" the clutch, it'll just touch the rubber mats, rather than clearing it completely. I have an '07 GS, though I don't think the clutch position would've changed that much.

What I noticed is that the OEM mats are rather long and there's a portion that runs behind the pedals, only the gas pedal has a cutout.

Then make a cutout for the clutch.... and get it over with.
Geez... you'd think we weren't a group of car modders.

haha I guess making a cut out for the clutch could be considered a "mod", lol :)

Mine has a hole in it due to the clutch...whatever...these mats are crap to begin with.
They're gone once I get the Weathertechs.

Both my carpet and all weather mat has a hole (or severe wear) due to clutch being floored.
I'm sure the clutch is being pressed far enough even with all weather mat.
I thought Mazda added a clutch stop on newer models which should stop it before touching the carpet. I've been wanting to add a clutch stop.

Dang, the clutch pedal will go all the way down that it hits the floor. That's crazy. On mine, the arm of the clutch pedal will rub the OEM mats. There's a grove at the edge of the mat now.

well my clutch doesn't touch the carpet, there is a small gap, but it'll definitely rub the mat when you floor it. That's the part I dislike.

Do you have a clutch stop?

xerox I don't know if I have a clutch stop, my car is '07 GS. If there was a stop I guess I would rather have it stop even higher, hahaha. Going off topic a bit, are clutches adjustable? Like can you change the friction point through some adjustment or internal screw or something?
