Just got back from installing the cobb fmic... plan on about 4-6 plus hours to allow time to work out any kinks.

First attempt. (0-5km)
Car started great, went out for a ride. Hit boost in third.... BANG, rough idle, AFRs into the 8's at idle. Checked boost tubes, seemed fine until we later found that one had infact not been tight and had blown off.

Second attempt (5-15km)
Car pulled pretty good, it pulled harder then it has this past few weeks with the hot weather but i can't say i was blown away. cleaned up my stuff and headed home.

Third attempt (15-80km)
no passengers, getting a lot better... starting to get oh crap this is fast sensation.

Fourth attempt (after 100km)
Oh crap has turned into sweet $%#% mother of $#^% we are %&#% hauling the mail now :bana2

So overhaul impression day 1, very happy. The car actually pulls in hot humid weather which is all i really wanted. I can only imagine what it will be like on a cooler day.... i think CTA Pat has 1 or 2 left before the next batch comes in later this summer, so congrats to whomever scoops these up. give it some time after you install and clear the ecu to form your opinions

Do you have a dashhawk?

white speed has a FMIC.

I have a stock TMIC stage 2 cobb and access to a dashhawk via gizzmo_jr if needed.

Are you trying to compare numbers?

lol, UoU can do analysis with a FMIC and mleblond can do TMIC with my Dashhawk.
Sounds good.

He installed it with a friend so 0$ for install is my guess.

I don't think it's that hard to do. Maybe 2-4 hours.

i'd count on 4 hours with a mazdaspeed pro and 6 hours with a normal person... faster at a shop like street performance where you can get right under the car vs. stands.

Eventho it looks like it takes up a lot of the frontal area, I don't think the license plate will be an issue once you're at speed...furthermore, since it's no longer a TMIC, idling with it upfront should be better anyway...nice pics as always...

damn it looks sweet. nice work man.

yeah for sure if i did this i'd get jimmy to install all of it.

uou i gotta ask you how you do it man
how can you afford a child + a FMIC! lol

this makes me jealous... lol

if you guys had to choose between a TBE vs a FMIC
what would u choose?

haha dont' say both cuz if i save up enough $$ by next summer i'll probably choose one or the other.. no way i can do both... what would u guys think?

CBE is a waste of money imo (performance wise)... that is $600 something i wish i had back but we all make mistakes.... get the fmic instead, you'll be much happier

My modding days are almost over don't worry :)

For me...most likely DP then FMIC....looking at about $2000 together, excluding install...

haha i'll take your word on that when the time comes.
it's too bad pat doesn't do payment plans / financing lol

so u'd say do FMIC
and do not upgrade the exhaust section at all eh? not even a downpipe?

i thought there were a lot of restrictions in the back?

having a fmic will that be okay in super cold weather?
james i know u park yours, but for ppl that run in the winter, is there disadvantage to having a fmic?? or any maintenance issues like rust and salt?

lastly, james are those stone chips on your lip? or is that just rain/water dried up? lol
my lip is chipping mad!

Biggest improvement mods:
1) Catted DP
2) FMIC with Cobb AP stage 2 FMIC map combined
3) SRI/CAI
4) Assuming inlet pipe or the like
5) CBE

I don't think you can compare just the fmic since it is really designed to work the the fmic map so some of the gain is from the ap which is possible because of the fmic.... so you can't really break that appart. DP and SRI will make a huge difference.

I am driving this winter since my beater died.

lol thanks for your inputs man

at least i'm halfway there sorta with a cai and ap..... lol
technically that's only 1/3 if not only 1/4 of the way there financially haha

catted DP eh... okay so CBE = no good.. just the downpipe
maybe i can afford a downpipe by end of summer.. hrmnnn
any recommendation on the best DP? or are they all relatively the same? CPE? or maybe wait for Cobbs? lol

hahaha good luck in the snow man. u gonna remove the lip??

I just had to spend 1000$ on tires for track :(

I can only do soo much per pay check....The inlet should be in next week too.

Dyno your car and we will see if I can wait or not :chuckle

Question: should you block the 2 pieces that used to bring air to the TMIC? Cause it's gonna blow everything right to the engine now...no?

Ps. you should get your header painted too :pop

That's really great to hear man. Looks ****ing sick too. Like the Engine bay better like that. On a side note, did just changing your daytime running bulbs reflect yellow around the whole portion?

this is actually a good idea for you BM guys...incognito with a little bling...I like those CF pipings too...but prolly can't justify the extra cost...

doesn't work well with us CB guys...bronze will just look like shit...hehe...

I like that bluish grey finish on the Cobb piping right now...hope they don't change it when I'm ready...

will powdercoating affect the heat dissipating capacity of the IC?

looks hot! can you reroute the air that goes in from the grill to where to tmic used to sit? route it to the intake to get cooler air or something?
