I have a 04 Mzda 3 A/T. The transmission is malfunction and the mileage just passed 100000km (100500k is the current mileage).

The AT warning light is on, the gear doesn't shifting when it suppose to shift. The RPM keep high but the gear doesn't shift at all.

I had felt the shifting is not as smooth as before when the mileage is almost touch 100000km. I had also checked the transmission fluid and the fluid level is ok.

I know the mileage is over 100000k but just exceeded 500 km, which is less than 10% of 100000k. Should I go to the dealership and see what they can offer to me.

Or just send my car to local auto shop?

Anyone please advice???

thanks

It doesn't hurt to take it in to the dealer to see what they say.

My wife and I had a similar experience with our Acura Integra. At about 8000 km over the warranty mileage the transmission stopped shifting gears. The dealership said the transmission was shot. They (Sterne Acura) on our behalf went to Honda of Canada and asked for it to be covered under warranty. They're reasoning was that although we were slightly over the warranty we had brought our car in consistantly to the dealer for maintanence and never missed a scheduled appointment. Honda agreed to fix the repairs under warranty.

I'm not saying this could happen but it's worth a shot.

Standard drive-train warranty is 5 year/100,000km so unless if he bough extended warranty his coverage has ended.
But definately doesn't hurt to take it to the dealer to see if they will cover it as a gesture of good will. Drive it in reverse if you have to! lol
