View Full Version : Where can I find a used cluster?

Does anyone know where I'd be able to buy a 2.3l cluster? (the one with the black backing and the pushbutton between the tach and speedo). I've searched a lot of different places, but I'm not having any luck.

I'm looking for one that has KM/H, and for a manual transmission. Does anyone know if there were any changes to the cluster throughout the years? I'm looking to install it in my 2008.5 sedan, so if not then any model year cluster will be fine.

Thanks guys,

Anyone else seen anything? Scrappers? Dealers?

I know back at the beginning of this spring '08, I visited a handful of wreckers in the GTA... and all of them provided the same answer by stating that it's very very rare that they will see a Mazda3, unless it's written off. It's too new of a model for them to have one on site on a regular basis.

clicky (http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-ViewAdLargeImage?AdId=64103995&img=http://kijiji.ebayimg.com/i19/06/k/000/7b/72/e488_18.JPG?set_id=1C4000) I don't know this guy, but I see this reposted fairly frequently.

Thanks, I actually found that guy on kijiji, but he doesn't have the exact cluster that I'm looking for (he only has a 2.3L cluster for the automatic tranny, I have the manual).

Ok, on this topic, I actually have another question:

Is it actually possible to exchange the clusters? I've heard varying reports on whether this can be done, but I'm looking for a definitive answer. I know the size of the clusters are the same, but it's more along the lines of whether the wiring harness will support the upgraded cluster.

I knew I had a second question to ask earlier, but now I remember what it was!

I've seen plenty of instrument clusters for sale, but they all say that they will work for the 2004-2006 model years. I assume that is just because the 2007 and 2008 cars are newer, so there won't be that many clusters lying around. Fair enough. What I'm wondering though is, was there an electrical change to the clusters for the 2007 model year that would make the old clusters unfit to use in the newer cars? Or can any cluster be used in any model year vehicle?

Does anyone have any experience with this or know the answer?

Thanks,
