How many K till you change your oil through Mazda Canada? Does it screw up your warranty if you get it done somewhere else or when you do it yourself?

here's one post i know right off the top off my head cuz i was the one that started it...

it helps when you show that you've tried to do a little research beforehand before asking a question...

instead of just asking it without showing ANY clue that you've even bothered searching... sure its valid... but also repetitive...

i change mine every 5000.
sounds about right

stick to the service guide in your manual and that's enough to avoid warranty issues

doing your oil change more often than 8k or 4 months is a waste of money..

If you are using Mazda OEM oil it is a semi sythetic and doesn't need to be changed any sooner than the 8k or 4 months.

If you do the 5k or 3 month you will spend approx an extra $230 in 5yrs...

Money well spent maintaining your vehicle as best you can. $230 over 5 years is nothing. That's $3.84 a month. I know people who lose more loose change than that a month.

That being said, I change every 5000 if mostly/all city, 6-7000 for mostly or a lot of highway. I use only full synthetic.

I do it every 5000-6000 or 4 months. But I always hit the 4 months first soo, yea!

I change oil when it starts to smell like gasoline. That usually happens around 5000.
On turbo cars, the oil gets burnt off faster and loses its viscosity much faster.
I'd rather change oil at 5000 than interval than wait until 8000 when the oil is just plain black and runs like gasoline.

I follow the dealer schedule just like The Biz said. Its either 8000km or 4 months whichever comes first, but in the past 2 yrs I have always done it 4 months as I have never reached the mileage mark before the 4 months run out!

You will keep the warranty valid if you atleast follow that.

synthetic oil can be more abbrasive in the first part of the cycle... changing your oil more frequently then recommended isn't helping your engines components last longer

someone told me "changing the oil too much causes the engine not to work and causes more damage" didn't think it was true...but i guess it is
