I know this isn't NEW news, but having read more and more about it, I think this will be my next sleeper of choice...
556HP...0 - 100 in under 4 sec...the kids will never be late for school!

Sure they will be. You'll have to stop for gas twice on the way to dropping them off :)
Why?
If you had money for that, you have money for a GTR....

I wouldn't drop $ on a new one tho...prolly wait a couple of yrs...see if I can buy it from some dying old man who's never abused it...
I'm also older now and can appreciate a car that ppl don't even bat any eye at...you rock a GTR and you spend more time talking to ppl about it than enjoying it...
a Ferrari F430 wants me too...but I can't afford to return its calls...hehe...

556 hp is only for the second gen (2009+) first generation is rated at only 400hp at crank... but for the price you could get it for - yeah, still not bad

you should be able to get a 09 CTS-V in 2014 for $30k. Just hope gas isn't $3/liter by then.
The CTS-V's weight & power will kill its tires and brakes if you race it :p
As for me my next car/other car will likely be all show no go car. I want a good looking car. Dont want the wagon look, want something really low profile and sleek.... not hte modified look but something low profile.

imagine...a cts-v with nascar wheels...and a set of slicks for dragging...this might sound sacrilegious to some, but for bracket racing, the auto 2009 cts-v might be a monster...
just pondering...not like I'm gonna run out and get a line of credit for it...

I always loved the 2004 Caddy CTS-V Racer. I'm looking forward to the CTS-V Coupe. The concept in Detroit was pure sex.

Yeah, I love these things too. And seeing as I'll probably never be able to afford an M5... this could be just the thing for the ultimate family hauler for the less than rich but not quite poor. :)

The auto is prolly very easy to launch as I've read that GM engineers are very good at programming "slip" into their trannies for easy launches since the STS days...
Having said that, the 2009 6-spd has a 16mph HIGHER top speed than the auto...interesting...
I'd like to test drive one...

The 2009 CTS-V interior is nice looking, GM really did a nice job with that. But, I've sat in a 2006 CTS and that interior is like a chevy cobalt.

the new 2009 CTS-V broke 8 min at the 'ring...that's at least a good 30 sec on the MS3...but yeah, not the same as the GTR, but it's ok... =)

More prove that it's a great car:

It's been over 60 years since the Americans have so thoroughly trounced the Germans, but Inside Line has the numbers to prove it. The Edmunds news service had a chance to take the new Cadillac CTS-V (which we're driving in upstart New York as we speak) and its supercharged V8 for a spin around GM's Milford proving grounds and brought along its testing gear. The resulting bombardment ought to have the Germans thoroughly embarrassed and rebuilding for decades to come.
The CTS-V ran the quarter-mile in a scant 12.5 seconds, besting the 12.7 it takes for either the BMW M5 or the Mercedes E63 AMG. Getting back to a standstill was another hit to the Bimmer and the Benz, with the Caddy stopping from 60-0 mph in 109 feet – five feet less than it takes the M5 and six shorter than the AMG. And if you're thinking that brakes and power are easy to upgrade and that the Cadillac couldn't possibly best the Germans on the handling course, think again: the CTS-V ran the slalom at 71.1 mph, while the M5 and E63 ran it in 68.5 and 65 mph respectively. Deutschland über alles indeed.

hmmm, despite those numbers I don't think the perception of GM is going to suddenly change but I guess its a step in the right direction...

I think the current perception of Cadillac really isn't that of "just another GM". They've done great things over the past few years.
Agreed that the V-Wagon looks wicked! I guess when this MS3 family wagon ends up being too small some day in the future, I've got a new one to aspire to. :D
