So i picked up a minor speeding ticket. bleh
However, when writing the make and year of the car, he wrote that my celica was an '09... (not an '01)
i remember hearing that these errors arent admissible in court anymore
can anyone help me out?

Basically, you appeal it and if the cop even shows up @ court, you tell them you don't own a '09 Celica, so how could you have been speeding in it! :)

most likely not the year of the car but your sticker. i got a ticket about a month ago and I thought that was my easy way out:) it wasn't.

Yeah. There has to be a significant error on the ticket for it to be dismissed. Things like wrong model or year don't qualify. My wife got a ticket in university where the officer transposed two letters on her license plate. Should have been "ER" but he wrote "RE." Case was dismissed.

I got a ticket in college and the cop spelt something wrong i forget what but when I disputed it they told me those things can be amended now. this was about 4 or 5 years ago now

when i got my ticket about 2 years ago and i went to talk to POINTS the cop had made a small error on my ticket (forget exactly what but he spelt something wrong) anyways i asked the POINTS guy if that error would dismiss my ticket and he said no, the courts still process the ticket

As long as the drivers licence number is correct it doesn't matter what is wrong. And now even if the DL# is incorrect they'll fix that too.
Unlike Microsoft you cannot get off with a syntax error.

I've seen tickets dismissed from an incorrect issue date, I've also seen someone who had a really modified Mazda 323 and used to get parking tickets but since the car was debadged the idiot meter maid would mark it as a Honda Civic...LOL
She used to get her ticket thrown out for that.

Not true. Got a parking ticking on my protege last summer, it's debadged and has no manufacturer symbols anywhere. The ticket had it marked as a Honda with no model.
Booked to fight, and the JP asked what car I drove. I said Mazda and they corrected the ticket and still had to pay the fine.
The license plate was correct, so that's all that mattered.

Well the City of Ottawa threw it out without contesting it.

Parking tickets are issued by the city and therefore subject to their by-laws so they can throw whatever out they want.
Speeding Tickets are part of the Highway Traffic Act and subject to real legal acts and they have worked in that minor errors are not adequate justification to throw the ticket out of court. Now, if you can prove you were in Mexico at the time of the ticket then you could probably have it thrown out but otherwise good luck and enjoy wasting your time.
