I would grab the some motor, assuming its a 2.3L
pending on what you want to do, you can keep it stock
or while the motor is out...build the bottom end of the 2.3L for boost and install that...
what is your budget like and what are your plans for the car?

Not with custom mounts to mount any motor that was supposed to be in there....
Maybe a ford Focus motor but who knows....???
its never been done, and anything that has never been done, you are going to go way over the $3000 budget
just go to this website:
www.car-parts.com (http://www.car-parts.com)
its a junk yard database in which will tell you prices and location of motors, in some cases you may have to ship seeing it can be somewhere in the middle of no where LOL!
I would say your budget would have to increased to $4000 to get something rolling..
curious, is anything at all on the car, usable????? tranmission, bottom end????
you could send that seized motor in your car to a motor assembly shop and see what they could do for you...
But none the less, to boost a car does not really take much money to do...I have seen people build a complete kit for $1500

There was a linky around here for some British built engines that were close to a "drop in" solution... and put out about 200 horses ... I can't find it though! I think they were around 6,000 bucks.

unless you rebuild for track or drag OR you do the work yourself, get a Mazda 3 that works.
My 2 cents.
If you change the engine then you need to change the ECU and finding something that works for Mazda could be fairly hard i would think and not cheap.
Ask the guy that did a full rebuild AWD ....

There's a guy on Kijiji selling an engine. I bought a spare headlight off of him. Look there; I don't how much he wants. I think it's a 2.0L though.
Otherwise, unless you can shell out a bit more on the engine, or get a mz3 that's in good condition, you're probably looking at spending a bit more than $3000. Try searching the wreckers (I think carcone's had a 3 some time ago). Good luck with your rebuild!

I saw you post about this the first time in RallyPlaya's thread, but I am still stumped when it comes to finding the link, as I do not recall one off the top of my head.
Don't think it was this one http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=12131&highlight=engine%2A+swap%2A
Or this http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=14136&highlight=engine%2A+swap%2A
Was it any of the links in this thread? http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=22433&highlight=engine%2A+fit
