I was at my dealer few days ago, while waiting for my HU warranty work done, walked around and and talked to one of the guys that sold me the car. He said that there were FEW Speed3 Sedans out in BC for test runs. To see how it would sell and how much demand. As well as, we can expect new speed3 2010-11. Is this true?

There are no Speed3 Sedans. You have been hosed! :chuckle

Why didn't you take any pictures?

I could understand if they are testing the NEW model Speed3, in sedan form, probably they are interested as you said to see if there is a demand.. They most likely want this now as there is competition for this kind of car on the market, seeing as how the new Cobalt SS/TC comes in 4-door guise, and the HHR SS would be the pin for the Speed3 hatch..

I'm sure the reason he didn't take any pics is most likely due to the fact the cars are in BC? lol..

How did you warranty work go? They fix it up good?

My next vehicle, hands down, would be a speed3 sedan (iff it compared to today's speed3). That is, if they ever make it!!

It would make sense, since the WRX STi and the EVO both have 4-doors, and they're the closest competitors.

would have to be AWD to compare to a STI or EvoX ...and cost 20K MORE

Would also need 300+ peak HP, too. If for nothing more than to compensate for the additional weight of the AWD.

If I haven't heard about it yet... it isn't really happening.

No one said anything about test selling.. he clearly stated the guy he bought the car from said Mazda had a few cars out testing..

This is the same setup they use at Car Shows to see customer feedback, and how many hand-raisers they'd have for the car..

I'm sure Mazda is just either testing the new Mazda3, or for sure test-muling the new MS3 in sedan form, but using the old body, but all new components.. They did this with the Evo 10, using a 9 body..

Damn right this would be sweet.. everyone would have a choice to pick from.. for me, I still think I'd take the hatch..

I had this problem choosing back in 2005 when I was thinking about trading in the P5.. I couldn't make up my mind, so I kept the car..

Guess.

The '10 will be released in Juneish next year and probably a speed3 in 2010.. but most likely a sport. can't imagine they will change that until at least the 2 comes out in 2011ish.

Hopefully it will be around then, else I won't be staying with Mazda for my next car! ;)

by the time u wait for the new speed 3 sedan, u might as well turbo ur sedan since the warranty would be over anyway.

i guess we going to have to wait and see, having a turbo in regular 3 is nice, but not the same as having it stock. I sure would definately pick speed3 sedan.

As for warranty, 4 weeks wait on new HU after going back TWICE.

I always thought Speed versions were released during the 3-4 year mark of that specific model.. I've noticed companies change a lot with a car during its refreshing in the first two years of release, then it will stay the same for a couple years, maybe change the taillights, headlights etc., some interior/exterior trim bits, then re-design after a 5 year mark..

For the new 3, I'd wait at least 2 years before walking into a dealer for one.. this way, anything and everything they want to put into the "freshened current model" to compete with the competition will be in it as standard fit, not optional or even unavailable..

EG.. my car does NOT have TPMS.. the 08' model does because it is mandatory.. I am not complaining, just pointing out..
But, if all of a sudden a Cobalt has standard NAV with the LTZ trim package for eg. in 2011, Mazda will need to introduce their 2011-2012 model with NAV as standard on their GT models.. get what I mean??

Wow.. 2010 models already.. sheesh..

I don't think my 08 has TPMS. No warning when I had my winters, and I have aftermarket wheels now and still no warning, and I definitely didn't pay for new pressure monitors for the new wheels, and he never touched my stock wheels when he took them off.

my bad.. wait, your 08' does not have it? damn.. that means you can sue!
I read somewhere it was mandatory for 2008 vehicles to all be equipped with a TPMS.. unless they went by build dates..

I had a 2008 G5 Base model.. I mean base model, as a rental for a couple hours once, and it had TPMS.. thing friggin' had readings for each individual wheel..
So maybe it is build dates.. beats me.. oh well..

TPMS is only mandatory in the US. It is not installed on Canadian cars.
