I think the board would benefit and actually eliminate some system overhead (mulch this one over for a moment) if the board has a Thanks/Groan, Agree/Disagree or Approve/Disapprove option for viewing posts, so viewers can "vote" their opinion about the post.
I don't think I should need to make a case for this as the merits or detriments are clear. But we may want to keep the "vote" confidential/anonymous as to keep the shit unstirred.
What do you guys think?
all the other boards have it why not ?
(Agree) Grrr where is the dam feature :chuckle

Problem I see is you'll have people who start voting posts down just because one person they dislike posted it. Not the worst idea though.

I don't understand the application. What happens when a post is voted up or down?

Nothing happens...it just shows how many ppl approve or disapprove...and it allows ppl to show their appreciation without simple "+1" and such comments...
This is very common with blogs...and doesn't turn into some popularity contest.

i didn't get it reading the first post but mleblond cleared it up for me lol
and i think it's a very good idea...it could potentially cut down on lil scuffles that arise because of conflicting opinions of a topic

The Toronto Star also has it for their columns' comment section. People can vote anonymously whether they: Agree, Disagree, or (find) Offensive. It also updates in real time, so ppl feel more "interactive" with the article.
