I was surprised when I received my change at a local timmies last week, That the US has a dollar coin. It looks VERY similar to our loonie. After the US made fun of our beloved loonie more then a decade ago, they introduce it themselves. Since then I went around seeing if I could get a few more to collect, and not too many banks even know about it. Anyhow, does anyone know where I might be able to get it. (Other then going to buffalo)

i have a couple that my aunt gave me when she came over from cali. Its a coin with some lady on it. i dunno lol. Anyways, they stopped making it. They only released a limited number of them i think. Its kinda like the 50cent cdn coin that only released a limited number as well. I have 1 that i took off my friend

They've got a $2 bill as well, which you almost never see.

Thats a differernt one, is it a dollar or 50cent coin? The one I have has jefferson on one side and the statue of liberty on the other.

Years ago there was a Susan B Anthony Dollar introduced and no one liked it so it never caught on.

And the $2 is still quite common. In Sault Ste Marie, a casino on the US side once paid every employee in nothing but $2 as a gimmick, too funny.

Do you have any right now or will you be going to detroit anytime soon? I want to get a few more of these since its still new. My wife likes to collect different currency. Let me know because I haven't found them in any banks around the GTA. I want to get aleast 10 more. Does anyone else know where I might find these, other then going south of the boarder.

I haven't seen any pass through here (I work @ TD). We order US cash on a regular basis and are still recieving dollar bills. So we'll see what's going to happen with it, I haven't recieved any memo's about it either.

This has been around for a few years. Doesn't seem to be popular but in 2 years as a cashier I came across a few.

More interesting was when I got a washer in a roll of toonies...

Looks like a Sacajawea dollar. I learned that on the Simpsons, when Homer I think it was, went to Moe's and tried to pay him with those coins, Moe yells "and take your Sacajawea dollars with you!" when he kicks him out.
