I'm thinking of buying a Acura TL off ebay motors Canada. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience purchasing thru ebay motors. Is it safe? Or is it a huge risk? Any suggestions would help. I'm pretty nervous about buying it.

I haven't used it, but rule of thumb is make sure everything is documented, e-mails, PayPal transactions, everything is noted, etc..
Call the person/dealer over the phone, ask for a total history report, pcitures with the guys/dealers name on a card with the date next to the car, etc..
Also, the feedback is the only other thing that can help you as well..
Hope this helps a little bit..

I wouldn't make any purchase over $200 on ebay.. I do make a lot of purchases on ebay, but there are a lot to go wrong, and people are more inclined to try to scam you online.
I know there is paypal insurance and everything, but it's just a pain in the butt if someone tries to scam you. You would need to go through a lot of hassle to get your money back, and stuff..
So I would stay away from any big purchases..

Thanks for the responses. The car is in Canada (Quebec), but the owner supposedly lives in London, England. Hmm... right? And the price is just ... literally a steal, which throws red flags.
Have any of you heard of using ebay motors as a 3rd party service to handle the transaction without having the vehicle listed on ebay for people to bid on? It seems funny and fishy.
I'm leaning towards just ignoring this killer deal. A friend mentioned it might be an e-mail scam. I guess easiest way is to directly call ebay.

Thats the same scams you find on Kijiji and Craigslist. If it seems to good to be true, it likely is. They always tend to refer to "the Transaction" too much. Sounds to me like a scam, these scammers just seem to be relentless. And the NEVER seem to be where the car they are selling is!
I wouldn't bother...their is way to many scam going on now a days...
I had someone last winter try and scam me when i was selling my grand am....He emailed me asking what would be the lowest i would go i said $5000 he sent me check for $7000 and he was from texas...he wanted me to keep $5000 and then he wanted me to wire $2000 back to him cause he told me the bank made a mistake...it seemed to good to be true so i took the check to bank and it turned out to be a bogus check...and the bank told me that i was lucky that i waited to send him the $2000 back other wise i would have been out the money..
The bank told me if its to good to be true then it not true!

I sold a car thru eBay whenn I lived in Winnipeg. The guy drove from Calgary to pick it up. We had communicated via phone/emails. We had asked that he pay via certfied cheque. My experience selling a car on eBay has been overall a good one.
There are scams everywhere but like 5_alive said as long as you do all the investigations/background checks, you should be ok. BUT like anything else buyer beware.
