Hey everyone,
I have a several dozen vinyl LPs. I know I will never play them... I no longer have a turntable, and for anything I really want to listen to I buy CDs or MP3s. Any suggestions as to what I should do with them? They are an eclectic mix of stuff mostly from about 1980 to 1990.
Suggestions?

Glue 'em together and make a coffee table out of them. (I used to use old CD's as coasters). A friend of mine used them as placemats!! :chuckle

Whatcha got? Anything good?
I still have most of my old vinyl. I recently saw a USB turntable at Costco for about $149.00. I am definitely getting one of these so I can upload all my old albums.
There are still some record stores that will buy vinyl. Lot of collectors still out there.
I'm pretty sure that on Trading Spaces someone "wallpapered" a room in vinyl. Could be interesting? (or not!) :chuckle

Melt them down and make a front lip out of 'em!

hahaha that's hilarious!
I would get that USB one mentioned above, digitize the stuff and THEN melt them, and make a lip :D

I have a primarily digital collection. However, I still love the sound of old Vinyl. Picked up a turntable years ago..great decision.

Hey, if you'd rather get rid of them or sell them dirt cheap, let me know. My cousin will gladly take them off your hands.
Oh, and for USB turntables, go with Numark's TTUSB (http://www.numark.com/ttusb) or Stanton's T.90USB (http://www.stantondj.com/v2/prod_t90.asp). Both come with software packages to record and edit your vinyl. The TTUSB is belt driven whereas the T.90USB is direct-drive (better, consistent speed and won't wear out). I know that the T.90USB also ships with a headshell & cartridge so you're ready to go right out the box. Not sure about the TTUSB.
One more option is to get the USB phono preamp (http://www.artproaudio.com/products.asp?type=86&cat=9&id=128) by ART. This is a cheaper alternative and useful if your existing turntable is working properly and has a good quality needle on it.
You can get these all at Long & McQuade (http://www.longandmcquade.com/).

Take the most prized albums from your collection, buy a LP frame (urban outfitters on yonge and dundas sells them) and frame them... it's a great decoration/conversation piece. If not, like it was already suggested above, take it to a music store, one that still carrys Vinyl and see what they would offer for the set. Ebay may not be a bad idea as well.
