alright, so i got the idea from the volkswagen guys, but i think it turned out pretty good.
so. after having a spaghetti of power wires, amp wires, and what not in my trunk, and my sub box sliding around on the floor mat around corners and braking and what not, i finally decided to do something about it.
i orginally though of just doing MDF and glueing the mat to it, and calling it a day, but i think this is more unique/classy.
basically, i traced the floor mat onto a piece of cardboard, and checked how that fit. after trimming, and making sure i can still get the floor into my trunk, i went out, and bought some 3/4" MDF, and a box (25 sq. ft.) of laminate flooring. (real hardwood is too expensive...)
after i had the floor done, and cut out, i layed out some laminate, checked how it fit, cut it to fit, and glued it to the MDF.
i had to make the floor two pieces for 2 reasons. 1) there is no way i can get it in the trunk in one piece. 2), i need a way to get to my spare.
so, after the floor was all done, i still had about half a box of flooring left, so i peeled off all the carpeting off my bassworks sub box, and preped the surface the best i could.
after everything was cut out, i glued the laminate to the box, and put some outer trim on it, to clean it up. that was nailed on.
also, my buddy gave me 4 huge sheets of dynamatt extreme, so we did my entire trunk.
after the floor was in, i ran into a problem, there was nothing to hold the box down, and it slid around worse than before. so, i used industrial strength velcro, and now the box doesnt move at all. as it would appear, the label didnt lie. it really is industrial strength.
my same buddy also rewired my subs and amps properly, and now they pound harded than ever!
so, on with the pics....
