Fuman had a great idea a few months back, he suggested that we have a blood donation meet. we didn't have enough interest to bring the blood donation services to us but that doesn't mean we can't bring ourselves to them.

I urge you to give Blood if you can, our blood is needed!

Note: the clinic closes at 8:30 on Thursdays, so please come early if you are going to be donating blood


We should call ahead so that they leave some spots open for us. I will ask those who will donate blood to indicate that when they sign up on the list. so that i can let them know, otherwise we will just have to take out chances and hope that they can accomodate us. i may just call and reserve 5-10 spaces to be safe but i want an idea first.

Fuman called Canadian Blood Services, they say under normal donations, whether it is Blood, Plasma or other types, you are good to drive afterward. They lady on the phone said she has no problems driving after donations. If it matters, they take "Approximately 450 mL (1 pint) of blood during a blood donation."

back last year or so. my highschool class was in charge of a blood donation thing. and we got alot of people donating. well i wanted to donate but because of me going to dominican. i couldnt. there are certain things that you have to declare before donating blood.

Tips from a veteran:
- Make sure you eat something (not a huge meal) an hour or so before donating so your blood sugar is higher, otherwise you may feel light-headed during your donation or for a while afterwards.
- Drink 500mL of something hydrating (non-alcoholic) before you donate and at least that much afterwards; will help you feel normal again much quicker.
- Because your kidneys, liver and spleen will slow blood filtration for a while afterwards, you will be a *very* easy drunk. Two or three beers will tuck you away for the night, so go easy.

Jamie, take 401 east till you hit hurontario (about 40minutes)..... Make a right (South) on Hurontario and keep going past britannia, matheson, eglinton and over the bridge where the highway is... Once you past the bridge you will see Square one shopping mall on your right. Dont take the rathburn exit but take the next one. You will then notice BP on the right side and the walmart adjacent to it. Hope this helps.

Hey guys, sorry again I was late last night..... but still in time to donate blood (as i was the last one). Not bad, eh.... left Spadina/ College at 7:30pm and got in the clinic inside Square One by 8:00pm. Wich I could have stayed out longer afterwards with you guys, but the wife was on my case to get home..... she hates it when I go the whole day without spending time with her and my daughter (as do I :) ). Great cause.. great turnout.

I was hoping they would give me a shirt though that said "Hug me! I'm a giver!"... :blush

It was great to meet you guys! What an amazing gesture. I think there needs to be more of this going on in the community. It helps tone down the negative stereotype projected upon car enthusiasts as raging speed demons and such...not to mention an obviously great cause.
