Where did you get your last oil change? They probably forgot to replace some screws. Otherwise you ran over something and ripped it off. If it's the front engine deflector it's about $120 at MoT.

+1 If you are lucky, the last place to change your oil will be taking the hit on the replacement cost... But good luck trying to stick it to them!

HAHAHA ! ohh man it was the fun talking to them .. so here .. i brought the car back to where i got my oil change / fix my windshield washer resonator or what ever because it was cracked .. so yeah they had to take off that guard at the front under the car .. they didnt put back on the screws .. i told them how it fell off ... and they said .. i went over a speed bump to hard and it broke the screws off .. like they were coming up with shit that i didnt do and make it seem that it was my fault or what not .. and yeah .. the dude try to charge me 250 to fix it (get a new one) .. and i was like yo it fell off like litterally the same day i got my car back from you (sat) .. then hes like oh you could had done somthing to the car on sunday and try to blame us for it .. i was like WELL YOUR CLOSED ON SUNDAY ! .. what can i do about it .. so we went on and on and on .. but yet he wouldnt fix it .. so i went to my buddy which owns a shop .. and he just slapped on a few screws to hold up the guard .. didnt charge me .. like SHIT ! .. that little ****er couldnt put on a few screws for me? which HE FORGOT TO PUT BACK ON ! .. man hes lucky i dont knock him in the face .. LOL!!!!!!! pissed me off .. funny guy tried to hustle me 250 to fix it .. what a guy .. anyways .. problem fixed .. only a few screws to hold it back up in place .. good to go .. advice .. anyone who gets a oil change .. or w.e .. make sure you get your car back the way you brought it in without missing anything .. so you dont have to deal with anything like this .. how lame

Which dealership was this at. Bud, I would have been all over that. Prima Mazda screwed me once for 1 mistake and that's all it took for me to never go back. These are licensed mechanics and if they do things like this, they should be reprimanded. Find out how to screw the guy (legally) and you'll see how fast he yields to your request.

Lawyer. That is all. Next time, tell him your going to call a lawyer and file a case as that could have caught fire from the hot exhaust, it could have come off and hit another motorist, etc.

You'll get what you want. Glad you got it fixed, but you shouldn't have to go out of your way.
So yea which dealer so people know..

with 200 bucks u can have a laywer send a letter telling them ur gonna take legal action, then u can go into things such as lost wages, emotional stress, safety issues and what not, I gurantee u they will piss there pants and call u within minuites, no body likes a court case, it tends to ruin business,

but this is only if ur really serious and pissed off, actuall fight in court costs much much moe, usually the letter does all the work

I have went through 4 of those already

My dealership told me that mechanics get lazy and dont even want to take the screws off when they do oil changes they just kinda pry it back and over time it will start to crack (not mentioning any names or anything... ONTARIO MAZDA) LOL

+1 I have done 3 or 4 now too. I think I won't replace it next time it comes off.

Yes, take you claim to a lawyer next time, because they are so cheap.:) - gimme a break - nothing happened to you , you can sue of something "that could have happened"---- if you are going to take your car to a monkey garage---next time check the work that they do ---- 20 seconds to look under your car would have saved you this hassle.

Do you own work - or double check the work that was done for you.

hahahaha - lawyer

Man, I've had the same problem, my splash guards have now mostly worn away. I had to cut some of them off, because they started pissing me off so much. it's so embarrassing when you drive by people with that shit dragging on the road.

AND i second that on the ******* at the shop who tells u it's your own fault. Like there was a slight scratch on the bottom of my lip, and they told me i went over a bump and thas why the shield came off. They fixed it so that it wouldn't rub, but they will always say shit like that to cover themselves... I'd be surprised if they didn't make the scratch themselves..

no need for a lawyer, take them to small claims court, they might pay up because they might not want the hassle

moral of the story... stop taking your car to those mickey mouse places, any place but the dealer... you either do it yourself or take it to the dealer where you have a greater chance of liability on their part... plus the fact that if the engine blows up because the idiot that changed your oil used the wrong tool to R&R the stupid cartridge filter, there's a lot less drama to deal with... only alternative if you insist on some place other than a dealer is to convert the oil filter to the spinon... lesser chance of screw ups!
