Has anyone checked this out?
I think it's pretty clean and slick

http://www.caradvanced.com/products/Mazda3-Screen-with-Touch-screen%2C-GPS%2C-DVD-player%2C-bluetooh%2C-Ipod.html

I emailed and asked what type of Group Buy pricing could be arranged and this is the answer i got:
6)Is there any chance you would drop the price for a Group Guy for the unit?
Of course. If you get:

2-3 = $1210
4-5 = $1140
6-8 = $1070
9-10= $990

They should leave $50.00 of deposit. We can wait for the entire order like a month. After the month i'll send the items to the people who sent the deposit and the price would be that show in the above.
You are my reference person, they have to tell me your name "Brian-Canada" if they need to contact us.
About the shipping to Canada would be $10.00 per unit.
We're not responsible for custom taxes. we can mark it low value in case u have to pay something but the shipping company just cover for the amount marked in the box. We've never had problems in the shipping but who know what could happen tomorrow.

What do you guys think of the unit?

Any chance that any of the sponsers could bring this unit up to canada?

Interesting:

Does it come with map of USA?
There is a rectangular display (clock, trip computer, climate control display, etc) above the deck in the car, does that still work?

A= Come with USA map.
Show Clock, temperature, FM, AM, radio station.
The song from the CD are shown in the head unit.
There is not aftermarket head unit that show the trip computer because it comes with the original radio.

Does it have Subwoofer output? any external A/V outs? etc?
I was having a hard time reading that page, lol..
And what system are they using for this unit? is it a Pioneer nav, alpine, garmin? what type of dvd is it?

Seems like a Carputer to me..

it would cost you alot more, to buy oem flip up screen from xenon store and buy gps module. And this unit you get touch screen, gps and dvd player all in one for a low price. I would definately jump in, only if they had it in piano black finish.. or I could probably get wraped in CF interior..

Looks good although I'd like to see an actual pic in the car. The pic they have seems like the screen is photoshopped in. Looks amazing though. I like the idea of keeping it all stock.

11-03-2008, 11:14 PM
looks cool but expensive for me at the moment...what about the top screen of the OEM HU....by replacing the stock one with this one it will keep an opening at the top. How do you cover that?...is there a decorative strip that can cover everything?

It's a pretty sweet unit, but the only problem I see is the 30 day Warranty. That scares me a little since it's from the date of purshase. What happens if it takes 20 days to ship and you don't get around to installing the unit in the next 10 days. When you do install it and it doesn't work, what happens? Does that mean the warranty is over?

Taken from the website:

Warranty

CarAdvanced products is warranted to be a free from defects in materials or workmanship for 30 days from the date of purchase. Within this period, CarAdvanced will, at its sole option, repair or replace any components that fail in normal use. Such repairs or replacement will be made at no charge to the costumer for parts or labor, provided that the customer shall be responsible for any transportation cost.

This Warranty doesn't cover failures, due abuse, misuse, accident, or unauthorized alteration or repairs.

Just a thought, I could be wrong.

I would love one to, but like yourself i would want to see it as well. That's why i was wondering if any of our sponsers could find a way to get their hands on it to sell. When i talked to someone from this place they said the unit for 1250$ comes from taiwan and the cheaper model for roughly 1000$ came from China.
As for going about sourcing the units from overseas, i have no idea how to go about doing that.

I wonder if it would be possible to take off the top and bottom pieces of the unit and wrap them in some type of black shiny vinyl similar to the look of the 08.5 model dash. Either way this unit is TOO COOL! I think I may pick one up this summer *fingers crossed*

I've ordered from them (the flip up screen and Navi) .. I can only say good things about dealing with them. Good service and good delivery turn around.
I can't imagine they would start posting shite on their site. I'm pretty sure that the owner also drives a Mazda 3 ,, I think his name is Denis .. anyway, point being is that he's pretty legit from my dealings with him.

CanadaGTO
11-27-2008, 11:20 AM
Supposedly compatible with TOMTOM and IGO2008 maps. I've got some questions into them and I've also asked for a demo unit to try for a week or so. Doubtful they will go for that though. I've also emailed them a link to this thread to see if they'll come in and answer some questions.

Ya you're right about compatibility of maps..........i looked on those companies websites and my luck wasn't very good for finding Canadian maps.

I would doubt they would go for a demo unit as well.... as far as i know they just order the units from taiwan and china and resell them.

Just got an answer back from them, no Demo unit available, and they are weary of coming on the board since they are not a vendor.

The maps is something that u need to buy.
The unit is compatible with IGO8, tomtom, route66.

When u buy the map, you have to consider it:
Car GPS System Environment Requirements
Software Requirements:
WINCE 5.0
NET 2.0
MFC 4.0 (MFCCE400.DLL MCFCE400i.DLL)
MSXML 3.0
REGEDIT kept forever
It has to be compatible with 800x400 pixel screen.

Okay, I got them to send me a Manual, but it's an all in one type that covers all the different units they make, and it's over 7megs so I'm not going to post a link to it here.

If you're interested, send me a PM and I'll shoot it over to you by email.

Iceman_F1

Do you just not want to post it because it covers all the different units or because of the size? If it's a size issue, I'd be willing to host it on my web space...

Otherwise, I'd be interested to see the manual...going to send a PM now with my email...

Depending on money situation, I might crack sooner rather than later...but we'll see. I'll have to read the manual first.

As for the manual, here's the info that was sent in the forward of the email I just got from Pat...

"Im not sure about Canada map. Give me some days to find some answers
about it pls.
The unit comes with USB wire, so you can connect your mp3 or card
reader and watch movies. Include wire for Ipod also.
The second file shows you the card slot. It is for a Micro SD card.
The micro sd card is included also."

The second file in question is the below image...the smaller picture links to the full sized picture if you wanted to see it that close

http://dump.sdamv.com/Mazda_OEM_Dash/t_mazda3_-_2_din_sd_card.jpg (http://dump.sdamv.com/Mazda_OEM_Dash/mazda3_-_2_din_sd_card.jpg)

and here's the link to the PDF

Mazda3 - 2 din user manual.pdf (http://dump.sdamv.com/Mazda_OEM_Dash/mazda3_-_2_din_user_manual.pdf)

That's a real interesting place for the MicroSD card though...nicely hidden.

Let me know if the links don't work...

Just so you know i'm going to email him back and see if he can check with another company to see if he can get cheaper pricing. I am also going to see if he can ship it from the Washington Location instead of China, anyway on with the pricing.

coming up is the prices:
Amount-----------------------uint/price
1----5pcs---------------------700usd
6---10pcs--------------------690usd
11----15pcs-----------------680usd
16------20pcs----------------670usd
21 above---------------------660usd

the delivery cost by DHL

Amount---------------------price
1 pcs-----------------------135usd
5pcs-----------------------660usd
10pcs----------------------1300usd
15pcs----------------------1940usd
20pcs----------------------2575usd
25pcs----------------------3215usd

If we were to get 20 -25 people
it would come to 788.75 USD, which is roughly 990 Canadian

Iceman_F1
12-02-2008, 11:20 AM
So for 1, it's $1040 Canadian at the current exchange rate ($835 US). That's not that bad. If we could figure out for sure the GPS Canadian maps, I'd most likely be into a group buy before actually seeing the unit in person since it seems like a good idea/deal. But that's just me. Specially if I sell my current GPS and/or other accessories to lessen the total cost.

It's probably not just shipping but also duty/customs cost as well. And from what I read in a previous post, it seems like the current shipping is from China instead of anywhere near here so there's the cost of overseas shipping which is pretty costly. So when you think about it, it is a bit understandable.

i haven't yet, but i want to as well.

some guy on the mazda3forums has order one from a place in miami, and seems to have faired alright. but i think if i order one i will be ordering one straight from china. 1. its cheaper, 2. gives me a lil more peace of mind coming straight from the manufacturer

but i think you should order one asap, so i can see how you fair! lol
good luck

i was hoping someone would order this before me, but im becoming impatient haha so i may soon order one. Iv been talking to a salesman but before i buy im trying to figure out if it will be compatible with my amp and subs, so far, i believe it wont, but if anyone has any other information, it would be greatly appreciated.

Well i just received word from an engineer there that an aftermarket amp and sub will work on it, the salesman had me scared at first when he said it wouldnt, also there is a 1 year warranty on them, i think i am going to follow through with this

Are you ordering the unit from China then, straight from Flyaudio?

Munz2
01-08-2009, 07:42 PM
That was my plan, until i found out shipping is like 200 dollars, and they were charging me i think 680 for it, now im becoming more skeptical because if it is crappy, i just wasted 880 dollars. Im going to try to talk them down on a lower price, considering to make it, it costs no where near 680 dollars

bbell1984
01-09-2009, 08:12 AM
Lol, exactly, that's what i was trying to do. They told me 680US as well and all i could think was their profit margin is probably so high. On the other hand, if the canadian dollar keeps gaining this could be a great pick up!!

and they told me 125 for shipping of 1 unit.

BTW, there is a place in florida that sells the units but at a much higher cost, the only problem with them is that they speak poor broken english, so if you ask them any questions you basically get the same reply over and over again so it's no use ordering from them really.
But there is a guy on the mazda3forums that has bought from the place in Florida and he seems to have had no issues what so ever.

Let me know what you decide, because if you do go through with the order maybe i'll grab one as well, maybe then we could get a discount on shipping?

Yeah, I does look pretty good. But I didn't have the cash for a new deck until recently. And when I did, I found a really good deal on a Pioneer F700BT so I picked that up instead.

Adoom

So overall I think this piece is pointless. For its price including shipping I can get a Pioneer avic-f900bt which is more reliable because the warranty won't be dealt with over seas and pioneer is known for its quality. also I guarantee you this guy jacked his prices, because he knows that North Americans here will spend sh*t loads of money for their cars. It's a nice piece and all but I'd rather spend my money wisely, the money put towards shipping handling and customs (which is likely not included) can go towards a better deck.

I am with you on this one bud.
However, there r those that want to maintain the stock look, and I guess they can spend the extra coin on this one.

I doubt someone with the extra buck would have a mazda 3 lol. But what if you total your car or sell it? Your obviously going to want to take your $1000 deck out and place it in your new car. You can't exactly do that with this foreign piece, unless you like mazda A LOT!

I start work at 7...but being in IT, sometimes I need to be in early when people aren't here to do a couple things...so I'm usually in around 6:30...quick check of email and TM3 then start work lol

If you like your system to look clean and oem without having the need for an aftermarket dash install. This is the perfect system.
For GUI looks it wont compete with a HU that is around 1,000 dollars but mine is just funciton and the oem compatibility to it.

I will be the guinea pig for this unit, and since it was my birthday last week i treated myself to this unit..... this unit is different to what this thread is, but you will get the idea....

I paid 1,045 shipped. for this unit.

Although it is made in China, the HU is a durable unit.

This is what it does....

DVD movie player, (plays all formats)
USB/SD reader. (SDHC is not compatible)
Bluetooth hands free.
GPS , Tomtom dowload available. (i still have the standard gui, awaiting email for download)
Radio of course
IPOD connector ( to me this is pointless ... you have 3 different mediums... IPOD can be used through usb anyways.
TV Tuner (waiting for pricing, but on some sites it is 9 dollars american.)
Backup camera option.
1 Aux 1 preout rear, 1 preout front,
oem plug and play, and can have volume controlled from steering wheel.

Please note pictures show the unit a different shade from my dash... (I had glossy black overlay on my other pieces.

I'm working in pricing for a group buy to try and reduce the pricing.... Im hoping to have 5 + interested so he can reduce the cost of the unit.

Blue tooth is good, you might have to talk a bit clearer and loud, but it does the job..

as I start the car, my cell picks up the bluetooth connection, and the screen on the head unit says success.

Maybe he wanted to deal with someone specific. Or maybe he wanted that specific model. It's not always about finding cheaper, but finding one that you'll be happy with.

Heres my reply on these ebay head units you see online.

Its a possibility that these head units are plug and play for the axela, not the north american mazda3.

Fitment is not perfect as I hear the ebay ones have a space in the middle between the head unit and temp controls.

The one I bought was a member at another forum who bought them from china, but not from ebay.

So if you see a price that is too good to be true, it might be because the installation might be disappointing... But then again you have Mcguyver3 to fix those issues LOL

Davis from Selective sound is selling another version but in the same price i bought mine for. I rather purchase at someone reputable than ebay.

Thats just my 2 cents.
